Good advice :-)Then again with athenticators around these days thats probably all you need
Nice. Show's they're headed in the right direction. I hope they ship cata with authenticators and take a nice big chunk out of all the hackers.
A friend of a friend was hacked recently. The hackers stripped all his characters and cleared out his guild's bank. Turns out this person has been buying gold. How was he dealt with? Blizzard is providing him with a free authenticator. Has he learned his lesson? He told his guild leader he would buy more gold to get back on his feet. Good thing Blizz hooked him up with an authenticator to protect his account.
I hate people that buy gold.. i dont need to buy gold, a true gamer knows how to make tons of gold without paying someone else to give some, then hack you 3 months later.. lame
I like that Blizzard is taking these big steps to stopping hacking and spamming and all that. Shows us that they actually care... Somewhat...
This information has been about on the various Blizzard pages for a while (read ~5 years), unfortunately the number of people who fail to do it properly is astounding. The majority of people who get hacked have never bought gold, never would, but fell for a phishing email, or got a keylogger from a flash vulnerability or similar. The fake armory website that was about at the beginning of the month phished literally thousands of accounts.
Thanks for linking that. It was incredibly informative...and it seems I'm up to scratch atm. =P
Thanks for the link. I`ve been a greatful users of the authenticator ever since they were made available. Blizzard should have thought about making authenticators long ago... may have saved the a crap ton of headaches caused by careless people.
