Oh come on... Now I won't even be using the Forums thanks to them =\\ What if I don't have my iPhone on me? What then, Blizzard?Plus I don't want to be launching up the Application (That doesn't even support iOS4!) every 5 minutes cause Blizzard is too paranoid.
I, for one, appreciate Blizzard doing this. It's not hard to always have my authenticator/iPhone with me. And it helps keep my account even more safe, because if someone were to come in possession of my account information, even if they can't log into the game, they can still see if my account name and password are correct by simply logging into the forums. If keeping your authenticator with you is a problem, you can always remove it from your account at the account management site.
It is kinda annoying, because now it seems to automatically log you out after a certain amount of time.
Another step for better security.
Does it help people get their account stolen less? No, the authenticator is already required for account management and logging into the game. The only thing I can think is that people were being careless after they got their authenticators and having their username/pw stolen so the thieves were using that info to post keylogger spam on the main forums.
I like this move. A lot of hackers tend to make threads on my realm forums going to bogus sites.
Lol. They dont even allow proper passwords to log in. Seriously.Do that first so we can use any type of character in our passwords first.Jesus christ
The only flaw I see with this plan is if someone got logged off from the forums, a hacker got their account and put an authenticator on it, and thusly the account owner has no means of posting on the forums to let Blizz know about it besides calling which takes a HELL of a lot longer to do.Beyond that I don't see any other problems, but time will tell.
The next step for Blizzard is to make authenticators for our authenticators, just incase we lose our authenticator.
Hmm, so they reinstated the authenticator for the forums. I wonder if it's a lead in for the new forum system.
Still no Blackberry authenticator?Pass
The Java authenticator can run on just about anything that supports Java. Getting it is a bit tricky, but hardly on the scale of programming your own. Ask Google if you're interested.
lol thats kinda lamebut meh,i got perma banned for trolling on the official forums so i dont really care(i did think it was kinda lame though, but i did kinda have this bad habit of getting bored and trolling the official forums)
