Hey, I play on Velen too lol
I find it interesting that at least the initial feedback only seems to be negative from people who aren't Premium. Just sayin'.
Yeah, you don't have to be Premium to say that it detracts from the content, which it kind of does. I think it's mostly the brighter than normal colors.
Its just kinda tacky.I love the concept but it just doesn't seem to fit. Even with just a few people using it atm, I'm finding it hard to read posts without the bars standing out and being distracting. Maybe if there was a transparent option for the gradient background available. That could be less obtrusive.
No, simply because of most of the points above.
I have to say, I agree with the people who say it clashes with the rest of the site. It has sharp edges and color, whereas most of the site is rounded and shades of grey. It has the potential to be great, but not with the options given. Maybe something like Frame's idea would be better.
Based on the feedback, I would recommend offering this for people to use on others forums and such only... many people seem to be concerned about the signatures taking away from the current appeal of Wowhead.
If you do go forward with this, somehow allow users to block all signatures. It's horrible. Like someone else said, "I don't care how much health your warlock has." If you want to show your title, name, guild, and server (IMHO the only "important" info in a gaudy sig), do it in text.It looks bad. I and many others don't care. I come to forums for discussion and text content, not to see big banners with stock Night Elf and Orc pictures and "My Resto Druid has 35694 mana." If I cared who your character was, I'd click on your profile. Please do not implement this. This is one of the reason I hate the MMO-Champ forums.
I must agree with most of the sentiment here.. it clashes a lot with the look of the site at the moment and it distracts a LOT from the information I am here to read. The parts in this thread where multiple users have posted with the new forum sig basically are very annoying to read, it doesn't 'flow' anymore if that makes any sense. I love wowhead for it's clean minimalist setup and I think many others do too, and I think you would kill one of the biggest assets of your site with this.Porcell above me also sums it up pretty well.If you really must have them, I like the suggestions quoted below:
Im liking the feature. Though, couldnt find my current DPS-cloak exactly in the background list :DMy recommendation - maybe add a "slimline" option. Creates a sig logo only a bit taller then the Faction/Race/Class logos, and only supports Name, Level, Server and Guild. For those who may want a little note about their character in their sigs, without the unused space.
It would be cool to have a background that looks like an item tooltip.. make your sig display as if it were an epic item ;)Also on my user page I see no signatures tab after I create it.Edit: nevermind.. just took a while.
As an altoholic, if you're committed to doing a sig generator, could you extend it to the point where it creates a non-flash animated image (rebuilt periodically to grab updates) of all the characters, please? I only know of one other signature generator that does this and it's a very nice feature.
