Coming from a still WoW loyalist, I have some neutral opinions about this game.I think it's going to end up like Aion. I mean, come on. Aion is a great game that's still going strong, but not nearly as strong as WoW. RIFT has lots of fan appeal and I can see it succeeding and rivaling both WoW and Aion, but can't top them unless some supermassive upheaval happens on WoW and/or Aion. However, even Aion's faltering - they've recently conducted server mergers and that's usually a sign of decay in a game. We'll see how RIFT goes, but I won't be surprised if they get a massive start then conduct a server merger or two in a year or so when the WoWers get bored and the fresh MMO newbies are the ones who are left.TL'DR: Has potential, can rival WoW, but may start to falter in a year.
Mike said many times. He is covering all MMO's.Why only WoW? I am waiting for SW:ToR. Hope ZAM covers it too.About Rift - love it to pieces. Hope it won't decay with time but it has great potential to evolve.I want more. :P
This is off topic its here because it is off topic and because he is letting the wow comunity know how this game stacks against wow. WHY? because who the hell knows maybe this will be that game that competes vs WoW for game of the year. It might not sure but it might. It has great gameplay almost no bugs a great design that isn't anything based off of wow (It might be based off of older games but so is wow. WoW took stuff from other games as well) I like to know about Rift its a good change of pace for me. If FFXIV had been good it might have stood a chance to.
If you wanted news about several teams you would go to the BBC, or Talk Sport, or whatever. If you want news about several games you would go to ZAM's main portal, or Curse, or one of the other hundreds of MMO-themed portal sites out there. Clearly shinies have a part to play here as RIFT are absolutely everywhere across all MMO sites atm, but I believe my point stands, this is advertising through the back door; if ZAM really wanted to promote RIFT only to those who were interested, they would restrict its promotion to their main portal site and not filter it down through those sites dealing with specific MMOs.I realise ZAM and Wowhead are commercial operations and have no problem with them accepting shinies in return for promoting other games, but it is they who sold specific membership that allows people to opt out of seeing adverts. Returning to the football analagy (speeling?), they've moved the goalposts after people bought their no-advert membership.
Except Fony is a Wowhead blogger and he enjoys posting things about things he likes. You don't like the thread, don't click it.
