I honestly like having some trash mobs to get stuff like cloth from, and I'm sure skinning people enjoy skinning the beast trash.
In my opinion, the dungeon/raid dungeon trash shouldn't be so stupid! There is a group of 10 people, say, that come into your evil fortress, you have a room full of groups of powerful soldiers, which they would be instantly slaughtered against, though instead of having some sort of a 'ranged weapon/taunt' pull, there should be more of a danger factor, instead of just Kiting, I think NPCs should have a 'suspicious' status, similar to a rogue's Distraction, they 'think' they saw something, so they warily go to inspect it, since in a real situation, either you are fighting enemies that seriously need glasses, or it feels like its 'missing' something, the trash mobs are basically one of the reasons you raid, suppose you were doing an instance, you'd be more inclined to stay for another attempt on a boss if, say, a friend during the raid got an upgrade that dropped off the trash.TL:DR There should be an "alert" status on trash to make them feel more like a "worthy enemy" with "better AI", who would, honestly, want to just fight a simple group of meatshields? Its easy, but imo isn't as fun as it could be.
Jackie Chan movies do, in fact, have dialogue. They aren't just a lot of roundhouse kicks, though that is, of course, the "draw".
It would be fun if some raid had been a sort of event, with trash noticing "hey, there are unknown ^&*!@#bags in our lair!" and at least face the raid and be in a /attack stance, ready to fight. And maby have this one guy run out of the room to "allert" the rest of the fortress. And some trash dialogue would be fun. So me as a rogue got something to do while waiting for the healer to come back from his pissbreak. You could like enter the "cantina" for the fortress and you see trash sitting there eating. and when you step into the room, and pull a few of them, they're with low armor and weapons, getting slaughtered, while the others run for their weapons and gear to defend the fortress!TL;DR: Events makes stuff more fun, and less static.
Why can't we be as powerful as bosses? Weren't they once players like us? Standing from a lore PoV.
lore, i think your comment about feeling cramped in council and chogalls rooms when the trash invade may be a little near sighted. yes blizzard has taken the approach in a lot of raid content, and dungeon content, where bosses have their own rooms. however, if you were one of chogalls appointed minions, would you want to be down the hall on bathroom break or whatever while your master is getting thrashed? i think between movie depictions and older raid content, it was a little unrealistic thinking the underlings would hang around wherever instead of grouping around the important people.
