I don't like the fact that hunters won't be using ranged weapons anymore; it makes no sense to me whatever. What hunter, in real life, straps on his knife/sword/axe to go out and bag a deer, taking Ole' Shep along to do most of the dirty work as his new 'ranged weapon'? If I recall correctly, the hunter class is the only non-magical toon available for play, and my own experience is that it takes far more skill and finesse to play, precisely because it isn't a caster. If I want spell-based play, I have plenty of healing/dps dual-spec'd toons to fit the bill. I don't WANT my hunter consistent with those. I like it the way it is.What I enjoy about the hunter most will be, in my opinion, what game play is losing if hunters must play without ranged weapons. The strategizing, planning how to pick a target out of the field, running it down/cutting it from the herd, placing and replacing your pet strategically to reorganize the field to isolate a target and optimize a shot, then bringing the target down: how can that be done if I have to send my pet in to make the ranged attack I would normally make using a bow, so I can bludgeon it to death with my mainhand weapon? NONSENSE.I play my hunter because of the skill it takes to be effective with a bow (or gun for some - I like my bows), using the pet to distract and inflict damage on a mob and herd my target, while I focus on damage and trapping. I think Blizzard should reconsider this decision VERY carefully.
most of these new talent trees are probably not final. dont get your panties in a bunch, there is alot of time left before any of this goes live. we will just have to see what direction they take it. me personally am fairly excited about this expansion, i could care less about the rest of Cata.
The old talents that you know are still there, if you listened carefully or read carefully the previous things that have been posted. When you choose a talent tree you get a whole set of spells and default talents. So for being Affliction you will automatically get Haunt, Unstable Affliction and many of the passive and slightly boring talents we had before.
