Taking away flexibility and customization of our choice in pets, and we never got any updated animations yet, just spell effects.
Not real happy about this. I understand that its early yet and all is subject to change. I don't do group content very often with my hunters so I care very little for how useful my pet is to other people. I like being able to have my pet tank for me in the open world, not really excited at the prospect of having to change my pet because it can no longer hold aggro or it becomes very squishy. I only use one pet on any of my hunters as there are RP reasons for my doing so and losing that would make me want to play those characters that are being forced away from having a tank less or not at all.
To all the people saying not to worry about the changes, since it's still Alpha - How exactly do you think that Blizzard figures out that fans don't like it if there's not massive reaction? Calm, serene, balanced Zen stuff hasn't ever gotten a reaction from Blizzard,. ...Much like flying, or also other major thing that they change before it releases, this is only going to be stopped if players make noise about it.
Why can't Blizzard just stop with all the constant changing of every class? Every expansion they do these complete reworks of every class etc and players then have to waste time relearning each class! It's kind of like Blizzard are saying all these class changes we did previously are just garbage so we're making these changes to improve things and make everything about the game so much better. Guess what, when the next expansion comes around they'll just do the same thing all over again and scrap all these changes in favour of whatever new thing they think will be better!Yeah I know, they're never happy with what they've done, there's always someone who thinks things can be improved, always room for improvement, etc, but after 6 previous expansions and now the 7th incoming, I'm just not bothered about it all anymore. It is what it is, if Blizzard are determined to make these changes then it won't make any difference how many players complain.
To all those making noise about it - Thank you! Noisy wheel gets the oil. Don't positively loose your minds, but, express your thoughts firmly, loudly, and often.
So... if all pets get Growl, all pets do the same DPS and, my guess, all pets have the same HP, then all pets can be used as tanking pets in open world, except where the extra 10% extra health + 30% damage reduction on CD from Tenacity really makes a difference.
I just want more stable slots...been playing since bc and well I am past full!
No more complaining or I'll turn you into an Indoraptor. We can and will chance pet specs without hesitation.
WHAA PET UNIQUENESS IS STOOPID. If you want to RP with your favorite pet go do it in an inn. Pet uniqueness is something that actually makes gather different pets worthwhile. I miss when I hunted down pets that were really good for raiding, dungeons or Battlegrounds/duels. If you dislike uniqueness stick with the pets you like not like they're going to make or break your heroic raid.
This is fine for me but there are a couple I disagree with. Why are clefthoofs ferocity? Why are stags and tallstriders tenacity? I feel like clefthoofs should be tanks, and stags and tallstriders should both be cunning.
I actually like and am excited about all of these changes except one. Spirit Beasts being moved to Tenacity seems all kinds of wrong. Please Blizz keep spirit beasts Ferocity!Edit: One more problem is that all mechanical pets are cunning. This is a problem for Gnomes and Goblins who do a whole mech theme.
The whjplash is strong, this feels like a huge step backwards. It's about time pets skins were treated just like that 'skins'.add them to the appearances tab for hunters, any you tame get added, makes taming new pets worthwhile.does away with stables, we can all carry around 3 pets (ferocity, tenacity, cunning) and freely change their skins/names at will.give a list of abilities to choose from for each tree, have certain ones unlocked by taming a certain pet family etc.so If you want the spirit beast heal, gotta tame a spirit beast, but you can use it with a spider skin if you want etc. This is what I hoped we were building towards, instead, pets are taking a step backwards.
I wish they just gave us much more Sstable slots as there is such variety of pets that can be tamed. Or I don't know, maybe transmog-like option and talent tree for your pet, so specials would be chosen there? Like taming pet for it's appearance and/or special ability and then choose between favourite options. I just dislike option when I chose pet not because I like it but because it has nice ability that my party needs. Liked idea of Hati to change looks, it felt kinda like pet transmog :)
I like rolling into level 19 or 29 BGs and getting two shotted by a Survival Hunter.
I do understand why there are always so many changes each xpac, so players do not get bored and play become stale. The issue is that 1) they go overboard and 2) Blizzard isn't very good at listening to the player base and worse at responding. They sacrificed their customer service side for global expansion and whatnot. Our blood and bones may live in a democracy but our minds are stuck in a corporate dictatorship. So anyway I had this self proclaimed brilliant solution on how to change the pet selection, role and options but as it turns out after reading others ideas here on the forums, many have similar ideas. Well drat that I am not the first to think of some of these things but woot I am not alone so maybe one of ours will be read and listened too. I am going to post my vision and try to go back and upvote any others with similar ideas and positive contributions. All for one and one for all! Following a mix of the create character screen, the mounts pane, pet journal, common items I think most hunters deeply desire and of course what I just personally want to see and believe would make most folks happier. I totally understand that some will agree and some won't. Please don't just downvote if you don't like something. Comment with what and how you would change it, use constructive criticism please. If I want to be belittled or called names I will go do a random BG. 1) Add a master pet tab to the collections, character pane, spell book or similar location. 2) List all of a hunters pets acquired and if there are limits, set as high as there are types at the very least, better yet include all variations especially of rare ones just like mounts and pets. 3) When a player clicks on a pet on the left pane, the right shows the pet, given name, description, from where, maybe date and if there is any special lore. "Select" button active if collected.4) Once selected the pane shows the 3 specs with brief description and a select button next to each, player clicks on the spec they want. 5) Pane changes to reflect main static abilities and additional ones where a hunter can choose from those available to that specific pet/type. Next button.6) If it is a spirit beast the next pane allows for any special choices that can be made, this would be where something like lust and/or brez would be. Next button. 7) Pane for any secondary non combat options available. This could be the color if it was a common pet/type or action such as 'shake hands', or item like a bow tie or hair bow. 8) Pane for review, personalized name option and summon/create button. Thoughts beyond basics...9) Make it all account bound! Same as mounts and battle/vanity pets with of course allie and horde option only ones. 10) Add achievements for collecting to inspire players. Supporting exploration especially of older areas and provide content for non raiders/PVPers (casuals) and of course collection addicts. 11) As for the number collectable, I would suggest that you only have to capture one of a type if common and allow a player to choose the color in the create process that way there are not so many that players and developers are overwhelmed, at least in the beginning. Leaving rare tames as individual. 12) Bring back at least the rare portrait borders. It is so sad to camp a pet for a week only to have it downgraded to a common one. I know this is a very old issue but still a deep scar to many long time players. Even though it would not necessarily come with their original special abilities it would be respectful to see our hard work hold at least symbolic meaning. 13) Add aesthetic/secondary options that can be learned, quested for, bought. Much like you can with battle/vanity pets. Again this would be something that casual or collector players might enjoy. 14) Hunter pet battling, maybe something expandable in the future which this set up could be evolved with. 15) Allow for being able to save favorites, much like being able to save gear sets. Thanks for taking the time to read, extra appreciation for constructive feedback!
