Kil'jaeden is the final boss of Tomb of Sargeras and we have a strategy guide to defeating him by FatbossTV.
It allows scribes to obtain the Hexenmeister glyph: Glyphe 'Funkensplitter'.
It is the objective of the quest Der Fall des Betrügers.
On Heroic difficulty, it unlocks one of the tints from the Artifact Challenging Appearance.
On Mythic diffficulty, it awards Mythisch: Kil'jaeden, which grants the title .

It also grants the Feat of Strength Spitzenreiter: Kil'jaeden if obtained before the next tier of raiding comes out.

Loot from Kil'jaeden is 10 ilvls higher than the rest of the instance, and a notable item with flavor text is Siegel des zweiten Duumvirats.
In the quest Der Fall des Betrügers and related Kil'jaeden cinematic, we witness Velen and Kil'jaeden meeting face-to-face for the first time since Velen's escape from Argus. Velen learns he needs to let go of the past, for himself as well as his son, while Kil'jaeden has a bit of a redemption moment explaining how he felt Sargeras could never be stopped and there was no other way forward.

Players first encountered Kil'jaeden in Sonnenbrunnenplateau--notable loot included Goldener Stab der Sin'dorei and Thori'dal, Furor der Sterne. Notably, the first version of Kil'jaeden did not have visible legs or fly around. The Legion encounter has some throwbacks to the original encounter, such as Shadowy Reflections spawning.
Earlier in Legion, he makes an appearance in the Subtlety Rogue Artifact Questline as well as granting Caria Teufelsseele the Kriegsklingen der Aldrachi in the Vengeance Demon Hunter Artifact Questline and Varedis Felsoul the Havoc Demon Hunter Artifact Zwillingsklingen des Betrügers.
The Argus questlines examine the corruption of Kil'jaeden and Archimonde, retelling Velen's choice to escape.
Learn about the backstory between Archimonde, Kil'jaeden, and Velen in World of Warcraft Chronicle: Sargeras and the Pantheon. Velen was suspicious of Sargeras' offer and escaped, while Archimonde and Kil'jaeden became corrupt lieutenants and relentlessly tracked Velen down.
Kil'jaeden's story is covered in more detail in several past Nobbel collabs--The Story of Tomb of Sargeras and the Story of Shadows of Argus including Velen's escape.

Arthas and the Lich KingWarcraft 3ChronicleFind the Lich King in game:

In Icecrown, Gefrorenes Herz, the heart of Arthas, starts a massive lore questline. For part of the questline, Matthias Lehner (thought to be the conscience of Arthas), will let you relive key events in Arthas' life such as raising Sindragosa and fighting Illidan. Tirion Fordring eventually destroys the heart of Arthas, which greatly weakens the Lich King.
Eiskronenzitadelle is the definitive raid of Wrath of the Lich King. Its final boss is none other than the Lich King himself! This raid progressively unlocked over the course of many weeks; the end bosses had limited attempts as well.
Acquiring Schattengram was a major part of Icecrown Citadel; the player who finished the questline also obtained Sylvanas' Spieluhr, Jainas Medaillon, Wappenrock des Lichtbringers, Muradins Gunst, and Zügel des scharlachroten Todesstreitrosses. Farming Icecrown Citadel is still popular today for Unbesiegbars Zügel and Schatz' Schleife.

After the defeat of the Lich King, Bolvar Fordragon took up the mantle to ensure the Scourge always had a ruler. His story continues a bit in Legion in the Class Hall Campaign and Class Mount Questline for the Verrottende Zügel des Giftbrutbezwingers.
The Frost Death Knight Artifact Weapon, Blades of the Fallen Prince, was forged from the broken shards of Frostmourne. In the Artifact Book you can read more about the lore behind this weapon.

Skull of Gul'danFind the Skull in game:

Players can acquire the famous Der Schädel des Gul'dan - it was a powerful caster trinket during Burning Crusade, and is still coveted for RP due to the fel flame effects. This is a drop from Illidan in Black Temple.
The Nighthold cinematic shows Illidan crushing the skull owned by Gul'dan v2. You can watch it here.
Demon Hunters can replicate Illidan contemplating the skull via the toy Schädel der Verderbnis.

Find Tichondrius in game:

Tichondrius is a boss in the Nighthold - learn how to defeat him with our raid strategy guide.
Notable loot includes Tier 19 shoulders and Pläne: Teufelskernhundharnisch for Blacksmiths.
This boss can be seen earlier in Legion in the flashback quest Hulns Krieg - Die Nathrezim. In this quest series, Spiritwalker Ebonhorn narrates the story of the hero Huln Highmountain in War of the Ancients as you fight demons from Huln's point of view and befriend the moose companion Eche'ro.
In the Cataclysm quest Der Sturz von Tichondrius, players watch Illidan tap into his demonic powers via Der Schädel des Gul'dan and defeat Tichondrius. Instead of relishing his victory, Malfurion and Tyrande are horrified at what he's become and exile him. This is one of the earliest quests in WoW that paints Illidan in a sympathetic light.

Find Archimonde in game:

Archimonde is a boss in both Burning Crusade and Warlords of Draenor. In The Burning Crusade, players go back in time to Battle of Mount Hyjal where Archimonde aimed to destroy the World Tree and absorb its power. In Warlords of Draenor, an alternate reality, Archimonde leads the demons in an invasion of Draenor
There are several special rewards for defeating Archimonde during Warlords of Draenor: Die Zeit ist ein flacher Kreis on Normal+ difficulty, Zügel des Wächters des Hains on Heroic+, and and Teufelsstahlvernichter on Mythic.
When he is defeated in Hellfire Citadel, he reminds Gul'dan that they had a pact, sending him through the Black Gate. It is later revealed, in a Legion cinematic, that Gul'dan steals Illidan's remains from Vault of the Wardens.
Before Archimonde was corrupted by Sargeras, he murdered Thal'kiel, an Eredar master of summoning demons that pushed too far into the Void. Thal'kiel's skull, Schädel der Man'ari, served as a warning about power to the other Eredar.
Flashback quests with young Archimonde are found on Argus. In Was hätte sein können we see Young Kil'jaeden and Archimonde decide to follow Sargeras.
For one segment of Argus questing (Das Siegel des Erwachens), we must retrieve the Crown of the Triumvirate formerly held by Archimonde. Here we learn Archimonde used to be a mage and teacher at the Conservancy of the Arcane.
The Conservatory has many flavor NPCs that add to the atmosphere of a magical school. One such NPC is the rare Lehrmeisterin Tarahna who drops the toys Blaue Konservatoriumsschriftrolle, Gelbe Konservatoriumsschriftrolle, and Rote Konservatoriumsschriftrolle. These were part of Archimonde's lesson plans.

Third WarFind Medivh in game:

Players can explore Medivh’s tower, Karazhan, now desolate after his death, as well as the surrounding area Gebirgspass der Totenwinde.
Karazhan was the entry-level raid in The Burning Crusade and required a lengthy attunement process taking players to other dungeons. The instance was considered very challenging, especially the trash, but also creative and richly detailed. Players fought through the luxurious mansion on the lower levels, including a ballroom, banquet hall, bed chambers, and opera house, then worked their way up Medivh’s library and tower as the threat of corruption intensified.
One of the encounters is Arans Schemen, the ghost of Medivh’s father. This encounter was notable for Flammenkranz, a mechanic that knocked up anyone into the air if the player moved while they were in a ring of fire.
In classic WoW, casters could work towards the legendary weapon Medivh wields, Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian.
Players can go back in time in Der Schwarze Morast to watch Medivh summon the Orcs through the Dark Portal.
Medivh is also a Mage Hero in Hearthstone as well as Heroes of the Storm.
In Legion, Medivhs Schemen is an encounter in Upper Return to Karazhan. Players that successfully complete the Karazhan speed run can talk to Medivh to summon Schrecken der Nacht in Karazhan and acquire the Eine Nacht in Karazhan achievement.

Illidan and OutlandWarcraft 3Warcraft 3Find Illidan in game:

In the Black Temple Original Raid Attunement, you can learn how Akama and Maiev worked together to thwart Illidan and gain access to the Black Temple. This questline led to defeating all bosses in the Black Temple, rewarding Gesegnetes Medaillon von Karabor upon defeating Illidan.
Before Legion, Illidan was best known for his appearance in Black Temple:
The Black Temple is the fortress-citadel of Illidan Stormrage, Lord of Outland. It contains tier 6 set pieces as well as many notable items, including Die Zwillingsklingen von Azzinoth. It's also known for providing reputation for Die Todeshörigen, easily earned through clearing the raid a few times.
Mutter Shahraz, Der Rat der Illidari, and Illidan Sturmgrimm drop the Shoulders, Legs, and Chest for the Tier 6 set.
Black Temple is also home to the famous legendaries Die Zwillingsklingen von Azzinoth. Obtaining Kriegsgleve von Azzinoth/Kriegsgleve von Azzinoth awards the achievement Kriegsgleven von Azzinoth. Subsequently running Black Temple in Timewalking Mode while having this achievement will award Ich kümmere mich darum, bis Ihr wieder draußen seid, allowing Demon Hunters on your account to transmog their weapons to the original Warglaives.
In Legion, Black Temple made a return as the first Timewalking Raid.
Illidan, as the final boss, has many iconic drops besides the Warglaives, including Sturmgrimms Siegelring, Zhar'doom, Großstab des Verschlingers, Bollwerk von Azzinoth, Verfluchter Blick des Sargeras, and Der Schädel des Gul'dan.

Several quests spotlight Illidan's battle with Arthas - Ein Schicksal voll Feuer und Leid in Felwood and Der Jäger und der Prinz in Icecrown.
Several quests in Legion attempt to paint Illidan in a more-sympathetic light, as the last time we met up with him, Illidan was the enemy. In this questline, you'll learn about Illidan's conflicts with the other Night Elves, his rejection by Cenarius, siphoning life from the Moon Guard mages to gain power during War of the Ancients, Illidan's sacrifice to gain knowledge of the Legion, and his defeat at Black Temple. The quests in this series are Wiederauferstehung, Ein unklarer Weg, Rabenkrones Vermächtnis, In meines Vaters Haus, Unerfülltes Schicksal. You can also watch the short cinematic upon Illidan's defeat.
In early Legion, you must complete Prüfung der Tapferkeit: Der einstige und zukünftige Herr der Schatten to find Illidan's soul in Trial of Valor. In the previous quest Seelenprisma der Illidari, heavily nerfed over several patches, you must collect soul fragments to create the Soul Prism needed to house Illidan.
In the Gul'dan encounter Archmage Khadgar release Illidan’s soul into his body. On Mythic difficulty it's not so straightforward as players must first cleanse the dark presence lurking in Illidan's body. You can find all the Mythic-only abilities in our coverage of Exorsus' World First Kill. Illidan then crushes Gul'dan, mirroring Gul'dan's defeat of Varian, and smashes the Skull. You can watch that in the Nighthold Cinematic.
In the Tomb of Sargeras raid, Illidan accompanies us through the instance along with Velen, Khadgar, and Maiev. Upon Kil'jaeden's defeat, Illidan uses the Sargeritschlüsselstein to open a rift between Azeroth and Argus, making the planet visible in the sky. You can watch the cinematic here and you can read more about the story of that raid in our past lore collaboration.
While Xe'ra believes that Illidan is the Child of Light and Shadow, he puts an end to the prophecy and her attempts to purify him by shattering Xe'ra. You can complete the Das Kind von Licht und Schatten storyline to experience this event or watch the cinematic here. However speculation lives on that Arator could be the child of Light and Shadow.
Illidan helps us fight through Antorus, the Burning Throne, and ultimately decides to stay as the jailer of Sargeras. This is interpreted by many characters as a sacrifice, but Illidan looks quite pleased at the thought of tormenting Sargeras for eternity. You can watch the cinematic and read our analysis in this post.
Upon defeating Argus, players can tie up loose ends between Illidan, Tyrande, and Malfurion through the Alor'idalkristall which starts Momente der Reue to deliver some messages.

Find Maiev in game:

Maiev is back in Legion. We encounter her while leveling in Val'sharah and the Demon Hunter Starting Zone. She tries to stop Gul'dan from taking Illidan's body, and is later held prisoner in Black Rook Hold. In Patch 7.2, she's teamed up with Illidan in Cathedral of Eternal Night and they have some fun dialogue exchanges!
Maiev was also notably seen in the Illidan Sturmgrimm encounter - helping the players defeat Illidan. You can also find Maiev in the Black Temple storyline quest, such as Ein Ablenkungsmanöver für Akama. In the Das gefährdete Geheimnis questline, required for Black Temple attunement, you'll work with Maiev and learn more about her motives.
Maiev has several items about her in game - Kordel von Maiev der Mondpriesterin referencing her past life as a priestess, and Maiev Schattensangs Silbermünze which can be fished up in Dalaran.

Deathwing and the Black DragonflightDay of the DragonDay of the DragonFind these members of the Black Dragonflight in game:

Todesschwinge destroys much of Azeroth leading up to the Cataclysm and is the final boss of Drachenseele. We learn he is the pawn of N'Zoth, empowered to do his bidding in the hopes of gaining control of Azeroth. Throughout Cataclysm, Deathwing would fly over zones spewing fire, rewarding players with the Im Feuer gebadet achievement.
Rheastrasza was trying to purify Black Dragonflight eggs, which forms the main questline in Ödland and rewards the touching item Rheas letztes Ei. She is eventually tracked down and killed by Deathwing, but the purified Black Dragon egg is kept safe, as she tricks Deathwing into destroying her own egg instead. This purified Black Dragon egg hatches into Wrathion, who then plays a major role in the Fangs of the Father and the Mists Legendary Questline.
When Deathwing senses defeat in Dragon Soul, he flees back to Deepholm, growing increasingly unstable due to N'Zoth's empowerment. Spine of Deathwing and Todesschwinge are the final bosses of Dragon Soul. Some notable loot includes Musikrolle: Das Weltenbeben, Zügel des lodernden Drachen, Erste Dame der Lebensbinderin, and Ti'tahk, die Stufen der Zeit.
Nefarian, the son of Deathwing, is the eighth and final boss of Blackwing Lair. He was particularly notable back in the day for his class calls, in which all members of a class were afflicted with a particular debuff for 30 seconds. In addition to Tier 2 chests, Nefarian drops the notable items Ashkandi, Großschwert der Bruderschaft and Crul'shorukh, Schneide des Chaos.
Nefarian also returns as the final boss of Pechschwingenabstieg, resurrected by his father Deathwing at the start of Cataclysm. Some interesting loot includes Wiedergewonnenes Ashkandi, Schwert der Bruderschaft, Musikrolle: Legenden von Azeroth, and Illusion: Machtstrom. Onyxia, the daughter of Deathwing, is best known as the titular boss of Onyxia's Lair, although she is resurrected for Stage 1 of the Nefarian encounter in Pechschwingenabstieg. We've written a spotlight on original Onyxia's Lair, including the elaborate attunement process for Drachenfeueramulett, rewards like Schlachtruf der Drachentöter, and the infamous Deep Breath ability.

Molten CoreDetails on Molten Core:

The Molten Core is located beyond Blackrock Depths in the deepest part of Blackrock Mountain. It is the home of Ragnaros the Firelord--one of the four elemental lieutenants of the Old Gods--and his elemental minions. Molten Core is a 40-man raid instance.
For Der 10. Geburtstag von WoW, Molten Core returned as a max-level raid. Clearing it rewarded Kernhundkette.
All Molten Core bosses up to Golemagg drop pieces of the Tier 1 Raid Set while the trash will drop bracers and belts for tier 1. Ragnaros drops the leg pieces only of the Tier 2 Raid Set.
MC is also home to two legendaries: Donnerzorn, Gesegnete Klinge des Windsuchers is forged from the three main pieces found in Molten Core, along with Elementiumblock found in Blackwing Lair. Sulfuras, Hand von Ragnaros is created from the fusion of Ragnaros' rare drop, Auge von Sulfuras, and the crafted Sulfuronhammer. Crafting a Sulfuron Hammer requires eight Sulfuronblock from Golemagg, along with many other materials.

Details on Blackwing Lair:

All bosses in Blackwing Lair drop pieces of the Tier 2 Raid Set, excluding the leg, which drop from Ragnaros. Tier 2 helms used to drop from Onyxia, but now drop from Nefarian after Onyxia's revamp in 3.2.2.
Elementiumblock is found as a rare drop from the Techniker der Pechschwingen that inhabit the lair. This ore is used to smelt Verzauberter Elementiumbarren, needed for Donnerzorn, Gesegnete Klinge des Windsuchers. Players can also learn Elementium - Das Handbuch für den Goblin.
Many players will want to run Blackwing Lair for the distinctive weapons, including Klaue des Schwarzdrachen, Drachenodemhandkanone, and Chromatisch gehärtetes Schwert.
Attunement is still needed to enter Blackwing Lair. Kill Rüstmeister der Schmetterschilde that patrols inside Blackrock Mountain. He drops Schwarzfausts Befehl, which begins the quest Schwarzfausts Befehl.

Cho'gallChronicleVolume 3Find Cho'gall in game:

Cho'gall is a boss in the Cataclysm raid Die Bastion des Zwielichts, and defeating him on Heroic difficulty unlocks Sinestra. Cho'gall drops notable shadowy-themed items like Shalug'doom, die Axt der Auslöschung, "Uhn'agh Fash, der finsterste Verrat", and Membran von C'Thun.
In alternate Draenor, Cho'gall is held captive in the Hochfels raid until Kargath is defeated. He then makes a surprise reappearance on Mythic Imperator Mar'gok, draining the leader of the ogres of his power, and then fighting players in a special Mythic-only phase.
Cho'gall's close ties to the Old God are reflected in his loot: Shalug'doom, die Axt der Auslöschung, Membran von C'Thun, and Helm des unerträglichen Flüsterns.
The Shadow Council served the Horde in the main timeline, and currently comprises NPCs from all races that are loyal to the Burning Legion. Athrikus Narassin, a Night Elf, led the Cult of the Dark Strand in the memorable challenging quest series Der Turm von Althalaxx. In his Tagebuchseite, you learn that he is allied with the Shadow Council. In Felwood, you learn in Streitkräfte von Jaedenar that Jaedenar is an important area for the Shadow Council. "The Shadow Council perpetuates the corruption of this land. At Jaedenar in the northwest, they worship the demons of the Burning Legion, and work to open the path for their masters to return to this world." The Shadow Council can also be found in the dungeon Schattenlabyrinth, featuring the orcs Schwarzherz der Hetzer and Großmeister Vorpil.
In alternate Draenor, the Shadow Council is an integral part of the legendary ring questline. Players free Garona of her mind-control spell in Außer Kontrolle through an Kugel der Herrschaft from the Shadow Council. This orb later corrupts Cordana Felsong, which is revealed in Bücher gut durch as she tries to seize the legendary ring. The Shadow Council also inhibits Shattrath and there is an achievement for defeating some of them - Aufgeladen.

Find C'Thun in game:

The questline to Ring the Scarab Gong, a massive server-wide event in classic WoW. Players across realms had to do numerous turn-ins of trade goods while raiders worked towards retrieving the scattered pieces of the Scepter around the world. These quests involved a variety of tasks such as farming green dragons for Die Verderbnis des Alptraums, raid all classic content and defeat Dr. Weevil for Drachisch für Dummies, and complete a speed run of Blackwing Lair in Nefarius' Verderbnis. It is no longer possible to do, but players could complete it until Cataclysm to get the Veteran der Sandstürme achievement. We've also written The Ahn'Qiraj War Effort should you wish to learn more about the scepter questline and server-wide efforts in more detail.
C’Thun was the first old god players faced in World of Warcraft, as the final boss of Ahn'Qiraj. While this encounter is easily soloable now, it was challenging due to his chaining Eye Beam ability, one-shot ability Dark Glare, numerous spawning tentacles, and stomach phase with the dangerous stacking Digestive Acid debuff. Old God-themed loot includes Augenstrangkordel, Griff des Alten Gottes, Bezwungene Tentakel von C'Thun, and Dunkle Schneide des Irrsinns. The transmog sets from this instance also have beetle elements.
Throughout the instance, C’Thun whispers you creepy messages such as Your friends will abandon you. Your heart will explode. You will betray your friends.
The archaeology item Segen des Alten Gottes has C’Thun’s whispers as the flavor text. This item turns you into a Green qiraji tank. You can also loot Qiraji tank mounts from AQ40 trash: Roter Qirajiresonanzkristall, Blauer Qirajiresonanzkristall, Gelber Qirajiresonanzkristall, Grüner Qirajiresonanzkristall
The Zirkel des Cenarius is fighting the qiraji in Silithus and you can earn reputation with them by killing cultists, insects, and NPCs in AQ. Reputation with the Cenarion Circle was needed to complete a 3-piece class-specific set from AQ20. The weapons from this set had a distinctive insect appearance.
Herrin Natalia Mar'alith is a Night Elf who grew corrupted by C'Thun. Liebste Natalia explains how, while on an expedition, she became entranced with the hives in Silithus. She demanded to return to them, and eventually attacked other members of her exploration party. In Der Schlund des Wahnsinns you confront Herrin Natalia Mar'alith who is now the High Priestess of C'Thun.
In Cataclysm, placeholder quests were added for Silithus which never made it to live: Beschmutzer des Windes, Vergegenwärtigung, Baristolths Plan, Sekrete und List, Überraschungsei, Mysterien des Schattenbaus, Gefangene des Wahnsinns, Hive'Zora B/C, Faceless, Bad Stuff. These quests show the Twilight Hammer’s renewed activity in Silithus. The final quests could briefly be completed, depicting Cenarion Hold overrun with tentacles and Vision von C'Thun, who says Hi! when you fly into him.

Highlights from Classic to Cataclysm

They for some reason give credit to thrall for rallying the troops in the Founding of Durotar campaign, but still give credit to Rexxar for killing Daelin Proudmoore. The Alliance does not respond to Kul Tiras wanting revenge, making them very pissed but not so much at the Alliance, more so towards the daughter that let her father die.

In the past there was a weird team up between Balnazzar and Kel’thuzad with the Ashbringer and Mograine story arc. They’ve somewhat cleaned that up by stating that Balnazzar survived Sylvanas and simply murdered Alexandros for his own goals, something Kel’thuzad took advantage of as he collected the corpse and the Corrupted Ashbringer. There was no allegiance between the two which makes sense I suppose...leaving the Ashbringer not so much sense but what can you do.

Lady Vashj and her mission in Zangarmash was to get water for the troops, killing any speculation on them creating a new Well of Eternity.

Kael’thas teamed up with Kil’jaeden and the Legion because of his magical addiction. The demon hunters' secret mission against the Legion alienated his allies and made Kael’thas vulnerable to Kil’jaeden and his sweet promises.

Velen was ordered by A’dal to go to Azeroth and bring in forces to help against the Legion on Outland, something that Kil’jaeden was aware of and welcomed. He wanted us to come to Outland and deal with Illidan which is why his forces re-opened the Dark Portal and lured us in.

Sylvanas lies about who created the plague that was used at the Wrathgate. This was done by her command, something that the Chronicles confirm, she just lies about it and places the blame on Varimathras and Putress.

N’zoth is said to be shrouded in an ocean of fevered dreams, among the bones of nameless horrors, there it remained untouched by the blades of mortals. As we already knew, N’zoth played a big part in the events of the Cataclysm with Deathwing breaking out and trying to bring about the Hour of Twilight. He’s vastly empowered by N’zoth, the reason why he becomes all tentacle-like near the end of Dragon Soul.

The reason why Garrosh and Cairne end up in Mak’gora is not because of twilight orcs attacking a peaceful meeting between Alliance and Horde druids. Instead it’s Garrosh’s warlike behavior that the old bull did not agree with and he responded in the only language he knew Garrosh would understand...Mak’gora.

The ending of the Cataclysm is still the same, but they only said that the aspects lost a big portion of their power. There was nothing mentioned about their immortality or their ability to reproduce, which makes me wonder if they had a change of heart. It was also the perfect opportunity to clean up a bit of Nozdormu’s story when it comes to time travel, but they don’t really. They give a bit of description on a river of time and how the Bronze Dragonflight was supposed to keep it pure, the same as we knew it before.

Arthas was the best of warcraft 3, with his fight for his homeland and his people and for this reason, for being an iconic character, I think he deserves a better ending, not as a traitor, even Arthas could not kill Mal'Ganis. It's not the attack on Wrathgate she ordered, but the creation of the plague. For obvious war purposes, like the events in Gilneas.Since Putress and Varimathras went rogue and attacked the Wrathgate and Undercity, she took the chance and blamed them for researching the plague behind her back.
