Subtlety - Iceshear
Video for Scenario
For this video and this guide I was item level 907 and using the Subtlety Rogue 2pc Tier 19.
Auge des Befehls
Generally I will recommend to have ~900 item level before you start it. However if you have recommended legendaries you can attempt it at lower item level, furthermore you can do at even ~890 without any of the recommended, but it will take a number of tries and fairly solid execution.
Trommeln der Wut
Fläschchen der zehntausend Narben
Sturmrochen mit Koiaroma
Üppiges Festmahl von Suramar
Trank der verlängerten Macht
Below are the Talents/Legendarys I recommend using. Some of the possible swaps are :
- if you feel that you don't need alacrity and you're overcapping energy.
Due to nature of this being a solo scenario, some of the legendaries excel far above their usual usefulness.
Die List des Schreckenslords
Very good for frost phase, as you can clear it all in 1 GCD.
Mantel des Meisterassassinen
Still exceptional due to being strong damage legendary. Furthermore you get a lot of re-stealth due to his long casts.
One of the strongest legendaries for this challenge, as it provides incredible healing and not limited by a cooldown.
Most of the other legendaries will still have some value, so don't despair if you don't have any of those 3.
Doing the Scenario
The Scenario consists of a few phases :
Focusing Iris - 4 stationary ley beams will inflict about 400k damage when touched.
- A simple, interruptable spell that deals about 300k damage per cast.
- Periodically, Xylem will stun the player for a couple seconds and teleport off, and trapping a player in Razor Ice. The Razor Ice can be killed and deals about 2.8 million damage if touched beforehand.
- After Xylem traps a player in Razor Ice, a Comet Storm will be cast around the player dealing about 480k damage every 5 seconds.
Intermission: Mirror Images
Between each phase, Xylem will teleport to a random area of the room and start casting
His position is indicated by a shimmering image of his model and on the minimap. While in this phase, you'll constantly be taking 1 million damage per second.
- A 40 second cast that deals over 6 million damage damage is completed. Can be interrupted by reaching Xylem's shimmering model indicated on the minimap.
Mirror Images - Will constantly cast Prismatic Shock, which will knockback anyone close to them. On death, will drop a pink bubble that will shrink over time which provides immunity to the consistent damage and providing healing.
- A simple, interruptable spell that deals a total of 700k damage per cast.
- Spawns a large number of orbs which will rush in a single direction.
- Xylem channels into the Focusing Iris to gain power. The longer Xylem channels, the more stacks of
he will get.
When you get
you will get a brief break when you can eat up (resets combat) switch gear / talents and get ready for Phase 2.
Phase 2: Corrupting Shadow (84 mil health)
periodically drops a pool under him that will slowly grow in size.
Saat der Dunkelheit
- Begins a channel that places
Saat der Dunkelheit
on a player and attempts to absorb the Darkness Within. When
Saat der Dunkelheit
expires, it will summon 3
Das Dunkle im Innern
adds (5.86 mil health each) that will run towards the boss and attempt to heal him.
There are a few ways to handle each of the phases. I believe that the easiest way relies on using
In frost phase you can simple press it and it will target the closest icicle in front of you. As soon as you kill it, you can use it again and it will target the same one in that row. This means that you can get out of circle very quickly without having to spend too much time targeting each one. Alternatively if you need to get out quickly you can use
which combined with cloak will instantly clear out all of them. If you have plenty of health after you get out of the circle, you can try to re-build your charges by
'ing the remaining ones.
In Mirror Images phase once again you can do it two ways :
1) If Xylem is decently close you can simply
Mantel der Schatten
to him. (If you are very good with timing you can even
him as he is teleporting away, and then just need to move out a bit and then in, to end the phase.)
2) Same as previously rely on
to quickly finish off the images and stand inside the circles to heal up.
Arcane / Shadow Phase - In reality there's no real mechanics here as long as you dodge the hits. I would save kick for the channel as it is the most dangerous mechanic in this phase.
After Arcane / Shadow he will start going into random phases (Frost / Mirror Images / Shadow).
Phase 2 - Corrupting Shadow.
The key thing to do here, is to minimize your movement, and pull him to the edge when he activates. This will give you more than enough time to kill it before running out of space (provided you have the dps).
Another important thing to know is that there are currently few bugs with his
Saat der Dunkelheit
- Make sure you do not try to CC him during the cast, as this will cause him to follow after you and is a guaranteed wipe.
Furthermore it has been reported that vanishing after the adds have spawned, can cause them to evasion bug, however since you're not taking any damage, you can afford to
and re-stealth with it as you're moving out. This is also why you take
, as it helps greatly with slowing down the adds and giving you time to kill them.
Finally, you want to save
for his berserk, if you happen to hit it.
