(( No trick this time, the real Page 22 is here. Page 21 ))
-
Long ago, before the creation of mortal races, the Old Gods ruled Azeroth with the aid of their constantly-warring Elemental Lieutenants: Ragnaros - the Firelord -, Al'Akir - the Windlord -, Therazane - the Stonemother - and Neptulon - the Tidehunter. Their chaos running rampant, the Old Gods feared nothing. Then the Titans came, and, in their pathetic quest to bestow order across the galaxy, battled and defeated the Old Gods and their Lieutenants, and chained them far beneath the surface of the world.
- Without the Old God's powers to sustain them, the Elementals bled back into the plain they had come from. However, the Lieutenant called Neptulon had been mortally wounded, and when he was banished back into the plain, he bled, and that blood made it into the possesion of the other three Elementals. Realizing that this might give them each an advantage over the other, the three took the blood and fastened its power into a small relic. This item would later be called the Silzzorthess Idol.
- Many years later, Ragnaros broke through the barrier that seperated the worlds, and brought with him the Silzzorthess Idol into Azeroth. However, during his breaking through of the fabric of reality, the Idol was lost.
- Passing from one owner to another, it eventually found its way onto a trade ship. A violent storm overtook the ship during one of its voyages, then the Idol-
- "Was found by
me
," said Scalebender, who had regained his senses enough to speak. "But a courier of mine that I had take it to Nazjatar became sidetracked, and the Idol was stolen."
-"Your failure cost us the revenge we had wished - nay - dreamed about for ten-thousand years!" Leechfinn hissed. "But, under my control, the Idol will bring Nazjatar back true power."
- "You seek the idol only to furthur your experiments!" Scalebender retorted. "You know
nothing
of its full potential!"
- Leechfinn leered. "The created does not question the creator."
- "What experiments are you talking about?" Nilon asked.
- Leechfinn, clearly more than happy to gloat, beganto explain. "Look at these Naga," he began, "both male and female are wielding a skill that - normally - they wouldn't have. However, each is also suffering from a strange paleness. That is an unfortunate side effect of the process I use.
- "You see, through the use of science I can take certain qualities from males and grant them to females, and vice versa. The optimal qualities I choose are the male physical strength and the females' affinity for magic.
- "With such a technique," Leechfinn finished up, "the armies of Nazjatar will be far more flexible in soldiers. And the Silzzorthess Idol has the power to do so with minimal side effects. So there will be no more Naga like you see here, and especially no albinos like the failure that is Proto. We will march from the depths, and crush all who stand in our way. And then, the world will belong to Azshara once more!"
- It took Nilon a few moments to wrap his head around the magnitude of the situation. All of this was just a stepping stone for a grand world domination plot. And he was right in the middle of it all...
- But, while Nilon struggled with Leechfinn's words, Scalebender struggled with his will. Leechfinn had created him, yes, but did that truly mean anything? But, even if it did...
- "I was once told," he started, "that all things can change. From foe, to freind, from peasant, to king." He looked up at Leechfinn. "From slave, to master."
- Before the Naga mutant could react, Scalebender released a blast of Arcane magic that sapped the strength of the Naga that held him, and sent them sprawling to the ground. He then grabbed the rapiers that he carried - which ignited in flames as his magic poured into them - and began to cut into the group of Naga.
- Spurred on by the Battle-Mage's act, the other enemies of the Naga aboard the ship joined the fight. Nilon - having decided that is was best to carry his weapon with him at all times due to recent events - grabbed his sword and charged into the battle as well. The crowded deck provided little room to maneuver in, and Nilon had to use all of his strength to control his swings, in order to prevent the accidental beheading of an ally. His blade glowed with the Holy Light, and no manner of protective armor of spells could protect the naga from that.
- Sprixx grabbed the cane he always carried with him and, with one smooth motion, pulled the diamond tip head off. The cane seperated into the bulk of the shaft and a thin, cobalt blade. The Goblin then jumped and ducked through the Naga, slicing at them with keen precision while avoiding the attacks of the Naga with amazing speed.
- Meanwhile Jason smashed his way through the Naga, while Celen and Thrrag added their own magical support to the battle. The only of the five that wasn't present was Scalebender, for he was focused on one thing:
- Leechfinn.
- With Scalebender's spells crushing all who stood in his way, Leechfinn scrambled to find a weapon. Unfortunately, there were none at his disposal. "This is blasphemous!" he yelled. "I created you! I gave you life! And this is how you repay me?"
- Scalebender hesitated, for just a moment, breifly lost in thought. "No," he quietly said, "you did not give me life, you just changed that which already existed. If anything, you
took
my life!" He raised one of his enchanted rapiers. "And now, I returned the favor!"
- With profound accuracy, Scalebender cut through Leechfinn's scales, exposing the mutant's pulsating, cancerous looking heart. Then, using the other sword, he peirced it.
- As Leechfinn sank to the floor, the other surface dwellers on the ship dealt with the Naga experiments. Then they all gathered around the slowly dying Leechfinn.
- "You fools," the mutant said, with some effort, his wounded heart squirting out black blood as he spoke, "my death seals your fates as well. My pet will see to that." Then, blood still gushing from his open chest, Leechfinn died.
- Their was a static silence, and then Nilon looked to Scalebender. "What did he mean 'my pet?'"
- "Oh no," was all Scalebender replied with.
- Then the water around the ship rocked. Huge waves formed and threatened to crush the vessel. Some water did not form into waves and was puched skyward. It then rained down like hailstones upon the ship. Everyone on board had to dodge erratically to avoid being hit, which only added to the confusion and chaos. And, in the midst of it all, the creature of mammoth - no, greater than that - prehistoric proportions burst from the water.
- As they all looked on, Nilon heard Scalebender whisper two words, "a kraken."

Oh no, the kraken? That thing in legend is next to impossible to kill, if even remotely possible to get away alive. I'll love to see what happens.

Writer's Commentary:
- Heh, looks like the Kraken was another one of my better ideas. How will our hero's get out of this one? As Dralas pointed out the Kraken is nigh-invincible.
- As for development of the plot, if you remember back on Page 18 (Part 1) Thrrag's last words to Scalebender were that all things could change. Not much of a hint, I know, but all the same it works. Hmm, I wonder what other old plots I'll bring back in? >:)
- Oh, on a final note the fighting style of Sprixx - and I know this is going to seem nerdy as hell - is based of Yoda's fighting style from Episodes 2 and 3. Perhapes its not the greatest representation of them, but I did my best.

Kraken. :D
Also, I love what you did there. All of this was just a stepping stone...
So, just for you:
"Don't look so smug! I know what you're thinking, but Your Slaveship was merely a set back. Did you honestly believe I would trust the future to some extremely small green thing, a couple of elves, a human an Orc and a mutant? Hahahaha... Oh no, no, no, they were merely an instrument, a stepping stone to a much larger plan! It has all led to this...and this time, you will not interfere!"

They're there, but I didn't think of any lines for them. I try to deliver the plot, not have a lot of random coversation going on.
As always, Nilon is featured, but these few pages are centering around Scalebender's story, similar to how Scalebender didn't speak during the Thrrag's cave parts.
