New Vanity Item Guides
We love vanity items here at Wowhead, so we've launched a trio of guides to help you acquire rare items:
Obtaining Blizzard Shop and BlizzCon Vanity Items
covers all the items from the in-game shop, Recruit-a-Friend, BlizzCon Virtual Tickets, and Collector's Editions. It also provides instructions on how to purchase items via the Battle.net and in-game stores.
Obtaining Items from the Black Market Auction House
explains the unique nature of this Auction House, starting bid prices, all the rare items found on the AH, and other ways you can acquire them. Warlords of Draenor added more items to the BMAH including tabards, pets from MoP raids, and mounts like
Schneller zulianischer Tiger
.
Obtaining All the WoW Trading Card Game Items
has been revamped to include a section just on Toys, as well as information on what items are on the BMAH. The guide also provides suggestions on what items have in-game equivalents--useful if you like an item but don't have the gold or money required to obtain it.
Friday Update Arcade
Lindsay
is back with the latest episode of Friday Update Arcade! Topics covered include Blackrock Mountain available for pre-purchase, Sylvanas coming to Heroes of the Storm, Legacy of the Void beta and Final Fantasy 15.

Tom Chilton Interviewed on Warlords of Draenor
MMORPG.com's
Gareth Harmer
interviewed Game Director Tom Chilton at Gamescom, discussing the criticism levelled at World of Warcraft in recent months. You can read the full interview over at
MMORPG.com
, but we have summarized the key points below for your convenience.
The dev team wishes Warlords was out by now, but team increases and the expansion's size have slowed them down.
Warlords is probably the most ambitious expansion to date when it comes to high level content.
The setting, if it appeals, will bring players back to WoW, but a bigger influence will be the level 90 boost and associated tutorial zone to get you back into playing your character.
WoW still sees "a pretty large number" of new subscribers on a monthly basis. Making the game more intuitive for them is a goal in Warlords
Working on an older game engine requires creativity from developers, and becomes harder and harder as new tech is added.
The Blood Elf design was perhaps promised for launch too soon, before they'd realised how long it would take to get all the models done.
World of Warcraft combat has stood the test of time, but the devs want to make it feel more visceral some time soon
Tom feels that casting while moving, like flying, cost the world a lot in the long run.
The "Dudebros of Draenor" problem was in presentation as much as anything - there are strong female characters in the expansion.
The end-game questing in Warlords will be far fewer daily quests and far more free-form interaction with the world. They're trying to avoid players feeling like they have to do it all.
Feedback from the beta has been a mixture of positive and negative - flying is a controversial topic, and Garrison feedback has reflected the devs' position on the feature.

Mists of Pandaria: Black Market Auction House
Always wanted Tier 3 gear for transmog or never got
Al'ars Asche
to drop? You're in luck now, with the Black Market Auction House.
The BMAH was designed to be a fun type of gold sink--where rare items are periodically generated and placed on a special Auction House for players to bid on. Players cannot list items themselves; instead, they are generated by the server and "listed" by an in-game NPC. The AH is "run" by
Madame Goya
in
Die Verhüllte Treppe
, with
Furorion
nearby.
Rare mounts, vanity pets, TCG items, Tier 3 armor, and epic recipes will find their way to the Black Market Auction House, and more controversially,
heroic raid epics will also be available
. While not many items will be up per week, it does raise concerns that raiders will be forced to buy armor with gold to help progression, which will put an emphasis on gold farming and change the server culture and economy. There's also some ilvl 483 PvP items for sale as well.
Bids start in the - range and there is no buyout option. The sky is the limit when competing against other collectors for items.

News Round Up: Purchasable Raid Epics on the Black Market Auction House
The Black Market Auction House was a hot topic today for blue posters--after beta players noticed that raid-quality epics will be occasionally up for sale in addition to rare/removed mounts and pets. Since some wealthy players pay guilds for mounts/titles already, some players think this isn't a big deal, but others think it changes the character of the game. One of these heroic items is up for sale currently, so we added a screenshot on beta:
In other news, Ghostcrawler recently addressed Death Knights, Hunters, Rogues, and Paladins on beta. The new TCG deck was released and there's also a feature on PrintWarcraft's custom T-shirts!
Black Market Auction House
No one should count on this even being close to a viable option for gearing up a character. If you can raise that kind of gold in the game, you're going to have much better success paying your way into raids for gear than hoping the right items appear for you in the black market AH (which doesn't include set pieces), hoping you can afford to outbid everyone else on your realm, and hoping you're the
