4.3 Preview: Warlock Tier 13 Faceless Shroud
2011.09.09 um 11:18
Adventurers will be tested like never before in 4.3 as they take on Deathwing and his minions, emerging with powerful new treasures. Please enjoy this preview of the warlock tier 13 set, as well as a visual guide to tiers 1 through 12 for Transmogrification purposes.
Warlock – Faceless Shroud
A set with the flavor of the Old Gods about it - General Vezax from the Ulduar raid was a reference point. Any warlock tier is a great opportunity to bring a dark and warped aesthetic to player gear and this set was especially ripe for the treatment.
Replacing the caster’s face with writhing tentacles was the ‘hook’ I started the concept with and built out from there. We always try to include numerous points of illumination into a tier set as it helps to tie the various armour pieces together – whether that be glowing gemstones, fiery runes or, as in this case, bulging othe
4.3 Preview: Warrior Tier 13 Colossal Dragonplate
2011.09.08 um 20:18
It looks like Blizzard's started to share more 4.3 content, this time showing us the warrior set of tier 13! Inspired heavily by Deathwing himself, this set is pretty ferocious and very red.
We'd like to remind you that we have several huge and in-depth guides to transmogrifying--Blizzard links images in this preview of previous warrior tiers, but doesn't tell players where to get the items. But don't worry, we do!
Don't forget earlier that hotfixes were posted, either.

Site Update: Reputation System
2011.09.07 um 13:28
We joked about it on April Fools', but reputation has come to Wowhead. Koper has worked hard to provide our users with a way to make the database better without much additional effort on the users part.
The new system works a lot like a World of Warcraft reputation grind--without the tabards! As you gain more reputation by performing desirable actions--mainly getting your comments upvoted and visiting the website--you will gain new privileges. These privileges let you help out Wowhead staff and users alike by giving you the ability to have your upvotes count for more and even vote to delete out of date comments. Where possible, we've made sure that reputation has been awarded retroactively.
The main inspiration behind this was purging our databases of inaccurate information from expansions past. We can't catch it all, but doing a blind purge may delete funny comments or aspects of Wowhead's "history." Still, that doesn't mean we want a comment detailing how the Molten Core version of Ragnaros has good drops and how T2 leggings are best-in-slot to remain #1 on the comment list forever. Sometimes you gotta move on, and in this case we didn't think it was too soon.
Heroic Ragnaros Receives a Major Nerf
2011.09.06 um 22:08
With only seven US guilds and thirty-seven guilds killing Ragnaros on heroic mode in 25-man, it was inevitable that Ragnaros would get a nerf. The fight was hard and many guilds three healed it for their kill, mine included.
Tonight, the nerfbat finally landed. Mid-attempt for many, Ragnaros' health was reduced--it's a fight based on health percentages for phase transitions, so this will reduce the second phase probably by an entire seed phase, greatly reducing the encounter's difficulty. Additionally, phase four--the heroic mode phase--allows Ragnaros to heal up for 50% of his health. With his overall health changed this much, it means he'll heal up for a lot less.
On heroic mode, Ragnaros now has 74.2 million on 10-man; on 25-man, it's now 246.9 million from its previous 290 million.
Prenerf Kill Statistics
Taken from Wowprogress, here are the statistics prenerf for kills in Firelands. Expect them to change drastically this week.
25-man Heroic Mode Kills
H: Beth'tilac (25): 682 (16.14%)
H: Lord Rhyolith (25): 1204 (28.49%)
H: Alysrazor (25): 581 (13.75%)
H: Shannox (25): 2040 (48.27%)

Harvest Festival Begins (Sept. 6th - 13th)
2011.09.06 um 13:10
is a small celebration to honor the fallen heroes of the Horde and Alliance. This year it runs from September 6th through the 13th, transforming the outside of Orgrimmar and Ironforge into feasts. While overall the holiday has few rewards and is an extremely minor world event, any change of scenery is a good thing--especially one that leads right up to Brewfest!
Festive tables full with food can be found outside of Orgrimmar and Ironforge, from which players can have their fill of food and drink as they celebrate the memory of their faction's fallen champions. You can hold up to 20 of each of these foods, and they do not expire, so they make great meals for alts!
Honoring a Hero
There is only one short quest chain available during the Harvest Festival, with both Horde and Alliance versions, and you pick it right up where the festival is taking place. For this quest, you are sent to show respect to one of your faction's most honored heroes--Grom Hellscream for members of the Horde and Uther Lightbringer for members of the Alliance. Miyari took the time to write up a brief quest gui
NPC Fashion: Dress Like Your Favorite Character
2011.09.04 um 15:16
Want to look like Inquisitor Whitemane, or maybe Tyrande Whisperwind? Following the recent series of Transmogrification guides, I've gotten a ton of feedback emails asking about the armor worn by distinctive NPCs.
We've compiled a quirky list of favorites--both celebrity NPCs and lowly grunts--so you can dress up like your favorite hero or villain. Most outfits are fine for mogging (of course, the NPC's outfit has to match your character's primary armor type), but if you want to get the *exact* look to match some NPCs, you'll have to mix armor types. (If you think of another NPC that should be on the list, I'd be happy to look up matching armor and add it to the guide.)
There's also numerous inaccessible pieces of armor worn by NPCs (cough, the shield worn by the
Wächter der Delegation Silbermonds
)--perhaps the Darkmoon Faire will introduce some of these fun recolors and robes in 4.3! Personally, it would neat to see Ysera's armor in game, or Thrall's.
The Visual Roleplayer's Gear List and Kirina's Closet were invaluable resources in compiling this list--we've featured some of their creations and you should check them out for even more NPC ideas!

In with the Newb, Out with the Old: The Future of World of Warcraft
2011.09.02 um 07:44
It was an interesting week for outside sources, with an interview featuring Tom Chilton on IGN and a very in-depth examination of WoW's subscriber woes at Gamasutra.
The catch? Both of them deal with the future of Azeroth in different ways. Gamasutra analyzed the shortcomings of Cataclysm, interviewing players and even Blizzard employees to figure out what's in store. IGN took a more basic approach, going directly to the source with both Tom Chilton and WoW's art director explaining everything in their own words without leaving room for speculation.
IGN With Tom Chilton on 4.3
Chilton didn't waste time getting to the point in IGN's interview. He immediately started dropping juicy tidbits about the Deathwing encounter, saying: "The fight takes place in multiple different environments, you'll actually potentially get loot at different points in the encounter so it's broken up into larger scale overall. Players will start at Wyrmrest Temple and then eventually it progresses to players fighting on back flyin
Interview with NFL Player Chris "Warcraft" Kluwe of the Minnesota Vikings
2011.09.01 um 13:46
Everyone was shocked to learn Mila Kunis dabbled in Azeroth in her downtime a couple years back. After all, how could a celebrity manage World of Warcraft and being famous?
We seem to forget that celebrities are just like everyone else--and that means a lot of "famous" people play WoW. From sports professionals to famous actors, WoW's digital world is home to a lot of different characters both in-game and out. It's part of the allure.
So that's where this feature comes in. We're looking behind the curtains of characters and seeing who actually plays them, hopefully with some interesting results. For our first interview, I tracked down Chris Kluwe right before the NFL season starts and asked him about his gaming habits, particularly the one that earned him his very own WoW TCG card after his character.
Watch out though, if you're alliance--he seems a little bit of a troll. A Troll rogue, that is!
Q: Can you give a little background on yourself, who you are and what you do?
I am Chris Kluwe, and I play video games. A LOT of video games. I also play tabletop miniatures (Warmachine) and bass in a band called Tripping Icarus. O
Patch 4.3 Preview: Worgen Racial Mounts
2011.09.01 um 11:16
Mount-collectors rejoice: there's new Worgen racial mounts in 4.3!
For months, players have complained how it was unfair that Alliance mount-collectors had nothing to collect from Worgen quartermasters--especially next to the snazzy Horde
. Well, it seems Blizzard has listened to player feedback. The new mounts resemble the old unarmored mounts from vanilla--a nice touch next to the current heavily-armored mounts seen everywhere.
We're not going to make it very far without transportation, are we? If we just hightail it out of here, the forsaken will catch up to us in no time at all.
Rounding up some horses from the stable grounds southeast of here would normally be a breeze, but there's one snag. That last quake must've spooked Koroth, the ettin, down from the mountains. If we don't get our horses soon, I fear that he will.
In patch 4.3, we’ll be introducing worgen racial mounts to the stables of Azeroth. These sleek horses have been constant companions for the denizens of Gilneas since time immemorial, and your worgen characters will now be able to claim their ancestral mounts.
