News Round Up: Captain Placeholder, Free Epic Beta Gear, Blue Posts
2012.06.15 um 11:25
We have a news round up and some fun things from beta to share with you, but first we have a beta testing opportunity you might be interested in!
Our good friends at Tencent Boston are looking to expand their beta testing community for their upcoming Facebook game, code-named Project Emerson. We thought it might be a good fit for some Wowhead users, so we're inviting you to help test it out! Combining action RPG gameplay with RTS elements, Project Emerson looks to be a fun casual game for anyone waiting for their raid to form up. Plus, being a closed beta tester is always a rewarding experience since you get to try out an exciting new game before anyone else and feel involved with the game design process.
If you're interested in getting started as a beta tester for Project Emerson, fill out the Project Emerson Beta Tester Application.
We've recently added some new items to our Mists of Pandaria database. In addition to armor from raiding, crafted items, and cut gems, we found some interesting items to highlight.

Mists of Pandaria's First Legendary: Available for Every Class
2012.06.12 um 19:59
Last month we were the first to break the news that a legendary might be coming to Mists of Pandaria. We had a lot of speculation that legendary items would affix to equipment to enhance its stats due to
Atem des Schwarzen Prinzen
, making this World of Warcraft's first legendary that every class can use!
However, nothing referenced an exact item back then. Thanks to today's datamining, though, we have a better sense of what it will be. (Keep in mind that this is still speculation, with no actual items datamined yet--just icons, quests, and items that augment ilvl.)
New icons for a legendary axe, fist, gun, dagger, mace, shield, staff and sword have been datamined in today's patch.

Mists of Pandaria: Archaeology Preview
2012.06.11 um 12:31
Archaeology is getting a major overhaul in Pandaria: Blizzard listened to feedback from Cataclysm and implemented a bunch of improvements. Among other changes, you can teleport to digsites, get more digs per digsites, and fight mobs that drop archaeology fragments.
We've got a list of improvements below, as well as a look at
and all the archaeology solves in Pandaria after the cut.
You get six digs at a Pandaria digsite, instead of three as usual.
The resulting item is not a white that turns into vendor trash. Instead, it is turned into a crated box--which stacks!
These crates can be redeemed with the Lorewalkers. It's not implemented yet, but there's been talk of the Lorewalkers providing your character with more dialogue and cut-scenes about the artifacts you bring to them.
You can turn in one Pandaren artifact a day for 5 Valor Points:
Die Geheimnisse der Vergangenheit
Completing a dig site will sometimes spawn an Ancient Horror, a sha that drops more archaeology fragments.
The tooltips for completed objects now helpfully point out that there's more lore in the

Scenario Previews: A Brewing Storm and Brewmoon Festival
2012.06.08 um 17:13
Lore and Perculia have teamed up to give an in-depth preview of the scenarios available for testing. This first batch of scenarios centers around the Brewmasters--a group of Pandaren who take their craft very seriously and end up in the strangest predicaments on their quests for the perfect ingredients.
Currently, you must be level 90 with a minimum ilvl of 425 to queue for scenarios. You can queue up for them using the dungeon finder, either for random or specific ones.
Summary of A Brewing Storm
Up on Thunderpaw Peak, you have to help Blanche Boomer finish making her famous brew. It can only be completed in the rain, which unfortunately is the perfect weather for enraged Saurok, a race of ancient lizards created by the Mogu solely for the purpose of fighting. This scenario is very fast, with three short phases and a NPC that helps tank and heal.
You'll start the encounter by extinguishing kegs on fire and killing waves of Saurok as Blanche completes the brewing process over the course of several minutes. Blanche helps you out b
Introducing Wowhead News 2.0
2012.06.07 um 18:56
Almost exactly a year ago we launched Wowhead News. Its intention was to make the blogging our content team did more visible and it certainly did exactly that.
However, a lot of people had problems with the layout. It wasn't styled like Wowhead, it wasn't practical in design, and its separate domain gave everyone a headache--especially the part where it would log people out frequently and make commenting difficult.
So a while ago, when we were talking about what features we'd like to do for our community, I threw out the idea that I'd eventually like to see Wowhead News redone in a style more becoming of Wowhead. As it turns out, so did the rest of the Wowhead team!
Today I'm proud to reveal the fruit of our labor: Wowhead News 2.0, a version that truly returns to its roots. We hope you like it--be sure to check out the sidebar as well for some awesome new features, including a featured guide box as well as the most popular addons from WoW Interface!
Please report any issues or suggestions right here in the comments and we'll stay on it for the remainder of this week and next.
