As our own in-house artist Noxy would be quick to point out, 4.1 isn't all about the trolls and the 353 epics. It's also not just a filler patch meant to tide us over until Firelands. In fact, according to her, the patch is very important--it has a lot of shiny vanity items to play with! From ones you dig up to ones you're lucky enough to adopt, there were a lot of little things added in this patch. Read on for a wallpaper about them and a miniguide of where to find these fun items.
Rise of the Cute Kittens
Noxy was so inspired by the new vanity pets that were introduced that she made a wallpaper for you showing her true feelings towards this patch. Yes, she's awesomely talented. Yes, she should draw more.

Vanity Pets, Mounts, and More
We've whipped up a guide in celebration of Noxy drawing us something as well. Keep on reading to check out the smaller things you might've missed in the whirlwind of dungeons and epics. From the new pets to the new achievements, we've got the details covered.
Vanity Pets
There are five vanity pets in 4.1, though one of them is simply a reintroduction of one that was removed prior to Cataclysm.
Pantherjunges
A
Panther Cub
is quite the catch. Luckily for you, he's pretty easy to get--all it takes is some adventuring! The primary quest line introducing
Zul'Gurub
is started by
Bwemba's Spirit
. While progressing through these quest series, you will discover a mother cat when you begin the
Folgt dieser Katze
(
Folgt dieser Katze
) arc. Unfortunately, you'll ultimately discover that she's mauled a dwarf to death. This baby panther is found by his grave several quests later and it's up to you to take him home.
Schmetterschwanzjunges
Another raptor! All you have to do is have finished questline that starts with
Die Verteidigung von Grom'gol: Raptorenrisiko
from lower level STV quests. This pet is a reward for the continuation of that chain, which used to end abruptly. Now however, after killing
Blutfürst Mandokir
, a raptor will appear with
Ein alter Freund
for you to pick up.
Pterrordaxjunges
Who wouldn't want their own flying pet dinosaur! As the name implies, this one belongs to
Archäologie
. Upon solving a Fossil artifact, you will be given a new project to assemble, and there is a chance to randomly discover fragments of this rare artifact! He requires 0
Archäolog. Fragment (Fossil)
. If you haven't started leveling this profession, he can be a little daunting, but trust it--he's worth it.
Voodoostatuette
Another
Archäologie
item, the
Voodoo Mask
requires 0
Archäolog. Fragment (Trollisch)
and can be used with
Trolltafel
x3.
Winterquelljunges
4.1 brings another furry bundle of joy as well.
Winterspring Cub
is even easier to obtain; head up to Everlook in
Winterquell
and talk to
Michelle De Rum
. She'll sell you one of these pets for only --even cheaper with faction discounts. Since they're BoE, you can always have someone else send you one if you happened to trash your reputation and you don't want to risk an encounter with a hostile guard on your trek to the vendor.
Fun fact: Michelle de Rum is a well-deserved tribute NPC to the prolific pet collector,
Drrum
.
Mounts
There are four new mounts in 4.1, two of which are a 1-2% drop rate. The other mounts we datamined weren't added yet, but their data does exist for this patch.
Schneller zulianischer Panther
drops from
Hohepriesterin Kilnara
--our database is showing an extremely low drop rate that matches up with the official Armory data of 1-2%.
Blutfürst Mandokir
is an extremely giving troll and he has another mount--
Gepanzerter Razzashiraptor
--for lucky adventurers. Of course, you probably won't be one considering it's a 1-2% drop rate and all, but you can always dream. And covet. And cry when you roll 99 and someone else rolls 100 when it finally drops.
The third mount comes from
Zul'Aman
.
Kampfbär der Amani
will drop from
Kashas Tasche
if the instance is completed within 25 minutes--no minor feat for a PUG or a non-optimal group composition.
Wilder Raptor
came out earlier this week and is now available from the TCG.
Additionally, the entire method of obtaining
Zügel des Winterquellfrostsäblers
was redone.

if you're looking for details.
Extra Tips and Items
Kataklysmisch lecker
and
Ersäuft Euren Frust
If you're having trouble finding
Steinharter Keks
and
Trübes Wasser
, that's because they're on a phased vendor in Hyjal called
Grunka
. To help out, Blizzard added them to
Zungam
's inventory in 4.1! When you encounter him in
Zul'Aman
, he'll be on the second floor of the hut near
Halazzi
. Don't free him from his shackles, instead just buy your food from him. He also sells
Ekelhafter Purpurpilz
and
Pilzextrakt
to help out with the achievement.
Archäologie
Items
There were some vanity items and a BoA epic shield introduced in 4.1. Here's how to get them to impress your guildmates.
Trinkhorn der Vrykul
is 0
Archäolog. Fragment (Vrykul)
and can be used with
Vrykulrunenstab
x3. It puts a
Trinkhornhelm der Vrykul
on your character, calling back to WotLK's plate armor. It also makes your character larger.
Uralter Bernstein
is a steal for 0
Archäolog. Fragment (Fossil)
. It will cast an orange block around the players, similar to
Eisblock
--a really cool effect! It also shrinks you and persists through damage taken.
Heimgesuchte Kriegstrommel
takes 0
Archäolog. Fragment (Trollisch)
and
Trolltafel
x3 to make. Our database users are reporting that it's bugged right now and sometimes appears in your mailbox instead of battlemarks--a duplicating drum! It's better than gold selling spam at least.
Panzer einer ausgestorbenen Schildkröte
is only 0
Archäolog. Fragment (Fossil)
to create.
