Answers to Common Community Questions About Real ID
16.07.2010 um 18:27
The Real ID system, which we were introduced to a little while ago, was one of the most controversial things Blizzard has done in a long time. The feedback from the community varied from extremely negative to extremely positive, with all the points in-between. Not only has the community been divided in its opinions, but it has been quite vocal with them as well. Just a little while ago a post appeared on the official Battle.net StarCraft II blog; in it Blizzard answers common questions and addresses concerns about the Real ID functionality, features, and plans.
Check out the full article on the link below, or read over the highlights further down.
You will be able to remove yourself from your friends' Friends List. So if I and
are Real ID friends, he will be able to remove himself from the list of friends you see when you look up my profile.
Battle.net Facebook integration will allow StarCraft players (and later on, customers from other Battle.net games) to search their Facebook's friends list and easily send a Real ID friend request to everyone with a Battle.net account. The Facebook and Battle.net accounts must use the same email in order for this to work.
There are no present plans to make the Real ID system show a nickname instead of a player's real name.
StarCraft II will use a form of public username - a "character code". It is a name you choose, much like you choose your WoW characters' names, but it has a unique three-digit code attached to it, so repetitions will be possible. It will be the name you use on the SC:II forums.
The SC:II forums will have a feature that will allow users to rate posts and discussions, making it easier for moderators and CMs to find meaningful (and meaningless) ideas.
So what do you think? Is this what you were hoping for, or were you anticipating some other change? How do you feel about RealID in general?
