Guide Spotlight: PvP Guides
13.05.2018 um 10:22
With the start of the Arena Championship summer season this weekend, we're excited to present our next series of PvP guides! These guides will cover general PvP topics and are written by high-calibre PvPers. They are an accompaniment to Method's Arena PvP Guides, which were launched earlier this year. For comprehensive guides on your favourite arena specialisations,
New to PvP? Check out our
for a list of commonly used terms and team compositions.
Below are some of the general guides:
Popular Compositions for 3v3 Arena
This is an extensive guide that covers the strengths, weaknesses, and strategies of almost thirty 3v3 arena compositions. The guide is particularly useful for players who are looking for a composition that suits their playstyle, or players who are struggling against certain compositions and want to learn their weaknesses.
Overview: WMP is almost always played with an Arms Warrior, Fire Mage, and Holy Paladin in the current meta. WMP is a hyper-aggressive comp that focuses on the Fire Mage/Holy Paladin synergy and ability to land crowd control, as well as their ability to live a long time with the cooldowns available to them. The Holy Paladin will go for a
Hammer der Gerechtigkeit
stun onto the enemy healer in the opener and the Mage will try to
off of it. if the HoJ cannot be landed, then the Warrior will use
to fear the healer and the Mage will land the Polymorph off that. The Warrior will always
the kill target and get as much uptime as they can to put out as much single target pressure as possible throughout the game.
Strengths: This composition is very good at training down Death Knights, as well as immobile casters like Shadow Priests and Destruction Warlocks. Shadowplay and TSG are two comps that WMP is very strong against because the Arms Warrior can do a lot of damage to the Death Knight or the Shadow Priest/Destruction Warlock.
Weaknesses: WMP struggles against comps with high consistent damage that have a lot of potential to survive and make the game longer, such as Thunder Cleave.

Utility in PvP
Utility is important in PvP because enables you to assist your team. This guide explores the different types of utility in WoW PvP, as well as their optimal uses.
Before going into individual utility spells, I wish to briefly explain what utility means, and why it is important in World of Warcraft PvP. Utility includes spells that offer some sort of benefit to an entire team of players, rather than only benefiting a single player. These spells usually provide no damage or healing themselves, but assist one or more party members by increasing throughput, avoiding crowd control, and playing around specific enemy mechanics. This guide will cover eight different types of utility spells in PvP and how they are useful in the current meta.

Keybinding for PvP
Every second counts in PvP, so efficient keybinds are crucial. This guide gives instructions on how to set up your keybinds, including advice on movement keys and how to bind arena targets.
Keeping consistent binds across your characters is very important. Let's say you have a Warlock, and you bind your kick to ‘R’. You wouldn't then want to have your mage's kick be bound to ‘F’. The same goes for most of your other abilities, whether it be
. If you have your major defensive cooldown bound to ‘C’, then it would be a good idea to have ‘C’ as the key for your major defensive cooldown on all of your characters. By keeping things consistent, you won't panic or get confused as often. For example, your healer may get caught in CC with no trinket, the enemies will be popping their offensive cooldowns to land a kill, and you'll know to press your defensive cooldown key without having to think for a second longer. This concept applies to all of your abilities. When you see similarities between spells across your characters, try to associate them with each other. Consistency is key.

Useful Addons for PvP
Addons can be useful for any player, but in PvP they are especially important for tracking vital cooldowns of friend and foe alike. They can also be used to improve game awareness and track personal statistics, which can be used to improve gameplay.
is the perfect addon for new players that are trying to train their arena awareness and learn the game. This addon essentially allows a player to have a sound system in arena. Whenever a player uses a key ability, for example
Inkarnation: König des Dschungels
from a Feral Druid, the GladiatorLosSA2 will speak and say, "Incarnation King Of The Jungle". It can also be used for healing cooldowns, healing spells, and offensive spells. This addon is like training wheels for arena. Most players play with this addon when they first start playing, so its a key addon for anybody who wants to learn and improve fast! There are a lot of options within the addon, allowing you to turn it up and down in volume, or to just say key abilities.
Flappers is a multi Rank One Feral Druid who has competed in multiple PvP tournaments. His team, Reformed, won the 2018 Spring Finals in Ohio, securing them a place at the Arena World Championship later this year.
