Horde Story Hints: Shadow Rune in Orgrimmar, Highmountain Tauren in Ashenvale
20.01.2018 um 12:06
We know there's more to the 7.3.5 story than the first week of quests, and players have noticed a Shadow Rune in the Horde Embassy and a Highmountain Tauren in Ashenvale that hints at future lore developments.
The plot thickens in Orgrimmar with a Shadow rune visible by the Horde Embassy. This rune is only visible if you stare through a telescope a Goblin has set up in the Goblin Engineering Hut. At first the location seems puzzling, as the telescope points at a wall, but ~20 sec later, the Shadow Rune appears.
We have only seen this rune previously by the Shadow-touched Krokul on Mac'Aree in the Ruins of Oronaar. In this area, we try to assist Arkhaan in the
War of Light and Shadow
quest but he's ultimately too corrupted by the Void to save.
Perhaps this means that the Goblins are engaging in secret communication with a sinister force, as Gallywix has led the movement to mine Azerite, and we're not sure how he was tipped off to the properties of Azerite in the
. This could also be part of a future
Wound in the World questline
, as it's clear that the current storyline is staggered over a few weeks and not yet complete. Late in 7.3.5 PTR cycle, we
datamined more broadcast text
including Goblin dialogue:
I really hated this tophat at first. What does a guy have to do for a good tricorne? But I must say... this fits real nicely on my skull.
I used to be a famous pirate! They dig me up, hand me this tophat, then tell me I have to greet all of you newcomers with a smile on my face...
Do you have any idea how much it hurts to try to crack a smile? This is ridiculous.
Psst... Yeah, you, $r. Hey, can you put in a bad word for me with the Warchief? I need to get fired. Being a jerk to everyone isn't working!
What do I have to do to get myself out of this job? I try to leave, some orc picks me up and plops me right back down here.
My position has been eliminated... feels like early retirement.
I used to have a cushy office job in Orgrimmar.
"We're here as part of a "workforce adjustment."
I've been downwardly promoted.
Boss Mida says I'm bein' discharged. The only things that oughta be discharged are guns and explosives!
Downsized? I'm already about as downsized as you can get!
We know there's more 7.3.5 Horde story on the way, as there's dialogue about
which nobody likes:
We have a forsaken ambassador, which makes sense given our Warchief, of course. But I can't help asking myself, what has it cost us? If you have a moment, can you please tell me of your experience with Ambassador Blackguard?
Thank you for taking my survey, $n.
I shall present the petition after I have enough signatures.
Good day to you, $r.
He was rude and blatantly offensive.
His appearance was off-putting.
He should be replaced immediately!
Roben des Verdammnisverkünders
is a 7.3.5 item with an unknown source, so perhaps it will show up in capital cities at some point too.
Credit to the player Thready for discovering the rune and sharing this with
, who made a video on the topic:
Let us know if you find anything similarly strange in the Alliance Embassy!
AlakeiThancan emailed with the observation that
is a dead Highmountain Tauren NPC in Ashenvale, just to the north of the border with the Barrens where the Alliance and Horde are fighting as part of the Warsong Gulch storyline. He is the only NPC in the area marked as a Highmountain Tauren - perhaps this will lead to mounting tensions where the Horde accuses the Alliance of killing a civilian.
We datamined another version of this NPC,
Halian Shlavahawk <Highmountain Emissary>
. If a high-ranking emissary was killed by the Alliance, this would certainly lead to conflict.
Have you found any more strange clues as to the future story out there in the world? Let us know in the comments!
