Jaina in Kul Tiras Broadcast Text - Build 26567 (Spoilers)
08.05.2018 um 22:15
Datamined broadcast text for Battle for Azeroth build 26567 continues with more details surrounding Jaina in Kul Tiras.
This is the third broadcast text post of the day, as earlier we covered
more spoilers related to the Burning of Teldrassil
as well as the
Mag'har Orc Recruitment Scenario
Last week we covered the broadcast text related to
Thros, the Blighted Lands
, a cursed magical land that Jaina finds herself trapped in. Together with her mother Katherine, we help her defeat illusions from her past criticizing decisions she has made.
Getting to that point in the timeline was a bit of a mystery however, but today we've learned a bit more leading up to it. While the
datamined broadcast text
pointed to a secret Alliance mission that Katherine was opposed to, in the following text it seems that Katherine has come around at a later point in the story and is now actively trying to save Jaina.
Flynn discovers that Jaina, after requesting the aid of the Kul Tiras navy and being denied and exiled by her mother, has been sent to Fate's End by Lady Ashvane. Elsewhere in the Kul Tiras story, we learn that Lady Ashvane is in league with Azshara and tries to overthrow Katherine Proudmoore.
"Here we go! The the information about Jaina's location is sure to be in here.
<Flynn gestures to the chest.>
You got the keys. You do the honors."
Oh... This is bad. This is very bad... They shipped her off to Fate's End.
Fate's End... Not how I'd choose to go.
$n, please extend my sincere condolences to Lady Katherine.
We don't know Lady Jaina is dead, Flynn. She could still be alive!
<Sigh> Flynn, you know what I mean. I hope for Lady Katherine's sake you're wrong.
Genn and Katherine work together to make a plan to save Jaina:
Hear me out, Katherine, but I think this may be good news.
Time runs short and all we have to go on is a contract Lady Ashvane made with some pirates out of Freehold!
She hired pirates to execute my daughter, Genn! Pirates! Scum of the sea!
We'll meet back at the camp, $n.
The contract was to move Jaina somewhere, not kill her outright.
They may not have arrived at their destination yet. Katherine, you may not be too late.
I-... You may be right, Genn. We are still left with scant clues to work from.
If the pirates sailed out of there, we may find out more information in Freehold. And I think I might know someone who can help us.
Katherine gets the help of Brother Pike, a Tidesage who can safely travel across the choppy seas, to take her to Fate's End:
Where was Jaina taken?
Tell me I am not too late.
The Tidesages are the only ones who can access it safely and Ashvane would have had no trouble getting them to send Jaina there.
Ashvane was, after all, acting on my orders.
Find Brother Pike! He is still a loyal Tidesage. I know he will help us.
We try to travel to Fate's End, a place where to 'set food on the shore is to be condemned to death':
Lady Katherine has reconsidered her order to have her daughter executed. We know Jaina was taken to Fate's End. I seek passage there.
She sent her daughter to Fate's End? Merciful Tides.
If Lady Jaina was sent to Fate's End we may not have much time. Come with me.
I'm sorry, child... I cannot allow you in here. Take what you came for and leave.
I have never had the burden of taking anyone to Fate's End.
We Tidesages are the only ones who can venture there safely but we remain in the water.
To set foot on the shore is to be condemned to death.
Lord Stormsong is no more, but the darkness he became part of remains.
Loyal brothers and sisters have joined me to turn the tides, quite literally in some cases.
But we are far from finished cleansing Stormsong of the corruption.
You will need to gather what I require quickly if we are to have a chance at saving a life.
Katherine tries to explain to her people why she is trying to save Jaina:
Some may question why I would help spare a traitor.
I have had to fight, and even kill, my own people. It was a hard choice, but the right one.
They were lost to madness, but I still feel the ache of remorse for their deaths.
I question, even now, could I have done more?
Lady Jaina stood aside and her father and others perished.
How keenly must she have felt those deaths? How much must she too wish for atonement?
For our land to heal there must be opportunity for redemption.
Katherine says she wants to be by the player's side if Jaina is found, so she can right her wrong:
One more thing, champion.
If... when you find Jaina, I want to be there. I will brave whatever dangers are necessary.
I was the one who brought this fate upon her. I will be there to see it righted.
Katherine also faces resistance traveling to the Blighted Lands, as it is a very dangerous place:
Inquisitor! I've received word from Katherine!
You're not seriously considering going into the Blighted Lands, are you?
You wish to enter Thros? I am afraid I cannot help you with this, mainlander.
I am afraid I cannot help you with this, mainlander.
Some pathways are best left closed, lest those on the other side peek through.
Oh, we are well past peeking, old bear.
It appears Thros has come to Katherine and we learn that we need an effigy made of Drust magic to enter the magical land:
Gorak Tul! It cannot be!
It would appear I was mistaken. Thros has come to us.
This... changes things.
"It has been a long time since a mainlander step foot in my grove. Do you wish to learn from the Thornspeakers, or have you come to lay claim to this land, as your kind are so fond of doing?"
"Ah, it is good to see another follower of the path. What do you seek from the Thornspeakers?"
I'm looking for a way into the Blighted Lands.
"The entrance to Thros lies within the great tree, Gol Inath, but crossing the threshold will not be as simple as walking through. To open the path, you will need an effigy of great strength. Not one of the trinkets of the coven, mind you, but one of old, Drust magic."
Send word to Katherine Proudmoore to meet me at Gol Inath.
"The path to Thros will be treacherous, but that is merely a fraction of what awaits you inside the Blighted Lands. Prepare yourself, $c, for the minions of Thros will use your deepest fears and and regrets as a weapon against you."
We then work together to create and make the effigy:
Champion! You're a welcome sight!
Those... things in the woods ambushed my honor guard. I barely made it here in one piece!
It looks like we'll be venturing forth alone. Lead the way.
This place... it feels as if I am walking into my own grave...
I must steel myself. Jaina has braved far worse at my hand...
This looks like a doorway of some kind. Perhaps we should place the effigy here?
Well, that did... something...
Now... there must be some clues in here as to how this works.
It vanished! Maybe these runes are acting as wards.
Try to activate another one!
That seemed unpleasant...
Perhaps the runes need to be activated in a certain pattern...
That's it! The markings on the wall show the sequence!
You've done it! The effigy worked!
Protect her with your life. Kul Tiras has lost enough Proudmoores in my lifetime.
Once inside, Katherine helps save Jaina in the
Thros, the Blighted Lands
scenario, which was covered last week. In this scenario, Jaina's deepest fears and regrets are used against her.
After saving Jaina, it appears that we get news soon after about Lady Ashvane's attack on Boralus:
Lady Waycrest has instructed me to ready my fastest falcon to carry a message for you."
We made it! I had feared we might have been too late.
Please, daughter. Let me show you the welcome you deserved from me the first time.
Thank you, mother. I-
Katherine! Ships on the horizon! They're flying Ashvane colors!
Jaina immediately sets to work preparing the city of Boralus for attacks:
$n!... You return alone I see.
Tell me what you found. Was there any sign of Jaina?
Or... Were we too late?
Wait... Jaina? You're back! Where have you been?
Skip the pleasantries, cadet. We need to prepare the city for siege!
Jaina, can you help me muster the officers? We need to draw up defensive plans.
Yes, mother. I will return with them shortly.
