PC Gamer has interviewed Ion Hazzikostas on the state of Shadowlands, talking briefly about some of the big pieces of feedback that they're looking to address going forward which includes loot from dungeons and raids and thoughts on the current PvP itemization.

Here is a quick summary of the article and interview, but make sure to read the
full article
for the full details.
Endgame Loot:
Blizzard is happy with the way that PvP Itemization is playing out.
Blizzard thinks they can do more to make running dungeons and raids more satisfying when you don't get the item that you were looking for.
One big topic of discussion has been the way loot works in the Shadowlands endgame: We significantly reduced the rate at which players earn item rewards, but at the same time also stripped away randomness and tried to give everyone more clear goals to pursue and control over their progress towards them. When it comes to PvP itemization specifically, we're really happy with how that's playing out, but we think we can do more to make the experience of running dungeons and raids feel more satisfying when you don't get a specific item you were hoping for.
Many players have suggested a return to the
Tapferkeitspunkte
systems from previous expansions, but this could be something different. What do you think Blizzard will do?
Class Balance:
Balance is always ongoing through hotfixes, in addition to larger patch changes to Legendary items, Covenants and player abilities.
PC Gamer also speculates that the next update is coming later this year, in the Spring -- but with no PTR currently, it's hard to predict when the update will actually hit. Normally by this point we would have a 9.1 PTR or at least some details about 9.1, but right now we know basically nothing. Perhaps more details will be coming next month with
BlizzCon Online
on February 19th and 20th.
