Upcoming Hotfixes - BFA PvP Tuning and Quest Log Bug

Blizzard has posted upcoming hotfixes related to over-performing specs in PvP. A fix is also being rolled out for an urgent bug that wipes your quest log when entering a new zone.
We're starting to see a number of these reports come up. Let me ask, do any of you use addons that related to questing and your questlog? Those that might have the ability to abandon the quests?
I'm wondering if this is a new bug, or perhaps an addon is out of date and doing something it shouldn't.

If you are referring to the quests abandoning, it certainly can. By "we're looking into this" I mean that our QA team is investigating the quests abandoning. If they can then figure out why they are abandoning they can put out a resolution that will stop that from happening.
A resolution and an empty box still gets you a very useful empty box that can be used to hold some of your most favorite things... oh and the issue resolved so you can pick up quests and hold onto them when you are zoning.
As soon as I have more information I'll update this thread.
So the question is will quests be restored, including the status that the quest was in, or are we gonna have to start all over? lol
I don't know if that is possible, Kamarel, but that is certainly part of the discussion about this situation. For the most part you should be able to just pick the abandoned quests back up, but for those who had partially or fully completed the quest, there may not be a way to verify that progress to restore it. One step at a time, let's get the quests to stop abandoning upon zoning first.

I am not trying to diminish the impact of this issue at all, it is obviously a huge deal. Especially depending on the quest that was lost... Bugs are regrettable when they happen, and we do what we can to deal with the outcome. I don't want to make any promises on a resolution when I don't know what may be possible here.
As an update, a fix has been found and implemented and it is populating through the live realms now. It will take a little while to cycle through and update across all realms/shard but folks should stop losing their quests.
Should it not be possible for those of us affected to post someplace and have our quests restored from before the glitch started?
Likely not, Tawsh. We have no way to update quest progression, we're unable to grant partial progress, etc... . If we could, verification would require extensive log searches that may not actually provide a full history if some of the progress was made outside the scope of the logs (i.e. within a month on average).
As it stands it is unlikely that we'll be able to assist directly with restoring quest progress. If the quest required you to collect items that were not labeled as "Quest", they should still be in your inventory and the quest will update when you pick it back up.
You should otherwise be able to pick up any quest that you had before this incident by returning to the NPC that provided it.
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this issue has caused.

No, Varkery. When originally reported we were trying to troubleshoot to figure out what the issue could be. Addons are used by a lot of players to help them customize their experience, but they do cause a number of issues. The first step in troubleshooting is to remove that as a factor.
Obviously we started getting a lot more reports very quickly which made it easy to rule out an addon as a possible cause.

Is doing a rollback not possible?
As far as I know data isn't saved/stored in a manner that would make that feasible.
I had 12/20 Nightshards from The Nighthold. I just re-accepted the quest. The 12 shards are still in my bags and the quest shows 12/20. I really hope I didn't somehow get screwed with this. =(
If you still have the items that the quest required, picking the quest back up should automatically update the progress.
Just for clarity, lets get this absolutely straight.
We will not be getting our quests back?
If it was a collection quest, and the items are in our bags, we can pick it up again and proceed from where it was wiped?
If it was a collection quest, and the items were held in the hidden place, then we will not get that back?
You can pick the quests back up, but we will be unable to restore all the quest progress for those that were partially complete or completed but not turned in yet.
Is it confirmed that it is now safe to cross zones?
The hotfix has been applied to the live realms, but it can take a little while for the fix to populate to all shards.
What about quests that people had that can no longer be picked up, that they were keeping in their log for sentimental reasons?
If they are no longer available you will likely not be able to get them again nor could a Game Master grant the quest to you. Sorry, Kafka.
I would appreciate you not ignoring my concern and letting us know what will happen to IN PROGRESS large quests that DO NOT have items in inventory to go for such as the Naval Shipyard Lv 3 quest for the Garrison.
I'm not ignoring your concern, Pyroscar, I simply did not see your post. I actually already covered quests that do not have physical items to mark progress. If you mean a quest like "Naval Domination", that requires you to complete multiple naval missions for upgrading your Shipyard to level 3, unless that data is tracked via an achievement (which I don't believe it is), you'll likely need to complete that requirement again.
On my lock she was on the Illidan crystal quest and had not done the last step yet and the item was deleted, how am I supposed to pick that back up?
Moments of Reflection? You should be able to pick it up from the Alor'idal Crystal after defeating Argus the Unmaker on any difficulty.

I'm sorry, Vexilian, but it doesn't work like that.
They absolutely have the ability to do a restore from last night's backup - or more recent if they do incremental throughout the day. They use this to restore accidentally deleted characters and such.
No we do not. Please do not use a limited and assumed understanding of our systems to support this idea.
Telling us "Ooops, this isn't gonna get rolled back" is significantly not OK.
Take the servers down and roll us back. This is entirely unacceptable. At the very least, reset the raids.
It isn't a matter of "isn't" it is a matter of cannot be. Data is not saved like it would on your console, where you save you progress in a game that can be simply reverted. The game deals with tons of various systems, which are not saved to a central file were we can just go... "oh, August 1st, 12 PM PDT, let's revert to that"...
We understand the massive frustration and inconvenience this has been. The matter is still being discussed, but I don't have any more information.

We've been playing this game for 15 years. And we ALL remember the 12 hour rollbacks we had to endure in the past.
No, Linora, I'm not. Those weren't really rollbacks so much as data loss due to a crash. They happened more, but that is when the system was simpler. Now there are other systems in place that work to protect that kind of loss of data.
The hotfix seems to be populating to all shards now. You may experience a disconnect if you are on a shard that is getting the update. Please wait a moment and you should be able to log back in.
Is there a way to obtain a log of previous quests to show what we had before? I had a few legacy quests that I’d like to pick up but do not remember some of them.

For a third time, is it possible to reset the legacy raids so people can get back in and begin working on what they lost?
Technically, yes. Game Masters generally cannot reset raid progress in most situations though so I couldn't say if it would be possible in this case.
Will you be able to give an 'all clear' once the issue is fully resolved across all shards? I'd rather not log in and get smacked with the bug if I can help it.
Last update I received was that the hotfix is live on all realms.
However, most recent updates from you guys seem to indicate that it is still happening. I'd say for now, maybe log into a character that doesn't have partial/complete quests on them to check.

Wandering Plague damage reduced by 50%.
Necrotic Strike's Necrotic Wound healing absorption reduced by 33%.
Virulent Plague deals 25% less damage when engaged in combat with enemy players.
Virulent Explosion deals 25% less damage when engaged in combat with enemy players.
Focused Growth reduces the mana cost of Lifebloom by 40% (was 60%).
Focused Growth increases the healing of Lifebloom by 30% (was 50%).
Dire Beast: Hawk damage reduced by 40%.
Double Tap's effects are reduced by 50% when engaged in combat with enemy players.

Subterfuge causes Garrote to deal an additional 50% damage when cast from stealth in PvP situations (was 100%).
Plunder Armor reduces the target's max health by 10% (was 15%).
Plunder Armor increases the Rogue's max health by 10% (was 15%).
Thick as Thieves increases the damage you and your Tricks target deal by 10% (was 15%).
Shuriken Combo increases Eviscerate damage by 3% per stack when engaged in combat with enemy players (was 5%).
Night's Vengeance (Azerite Trait) effectiveness reduced by 66% in PvP situations.
Spirit Link now redirects 35% damage to the team (was 50%).
Spirit Link's mana cost has been increased by 12.5%.
Spirit Link reduces the heal generated by Spouting Spirits (Azerite Trait) by 80%.
