If you love battle pets, show off your collection with our

The first pet collecting activity in BfA for many will be the
achievement, which you can start right away as you level.
Track the achievement for an in-game checklist.
To see which pets you still need from a zone, type that zone's name into your Pet Journal to filter it.
The wild pets of Kul Tiras and Zandalar will be level 25, so bring fully leveled pets to capture them.
is an excellent pet for capturing wild pets- use
to reduce most pets to low health for safe capturing.
New Pet Charms and Where to Find Them
Several one-time animal-themed quests reward you with
Polished Pet Charms.
That's the new Battle Pet Currency and they continue to be an account-bound item that goes into your bags. Your old Pet Charms will have converted to
Shiny Pet Charms
in 8.0, which can only be used for Legion and older pets and toys.
You can also find them as loot on rare animal-themed mobs such as
, with potentially more to be discovered. Those drop ten Polished Pet Charms each and are lootable only once per character- a pretty minor source of charms.
At level 120, your biggest source of Pet Charms will once again be pet battle world quests. The Pet Battle World Quests of Kul Tiras and Zandalar now scale to the level of your highest pet, so even fresh pet battlers can take them on. Not every quest will give you charms, but there are more quests to go around than there were in Legion. At most times there will be three quests across Kul Tiras and another three across Zandalar, all doable regardless of your faction. They also have a more staggered rotation, with varied expiry times.
Pet Charm Vendors
This time around, there are six different Polished Pet Charm vendors to find, one in each zone, with a variety of cageable pets scattered unevenly across them. Additionally, all of the reputation pets are sold for Polished Pet
Charms also and those can be found on the relevant emissary vendor. On beta, there were some discrepancies between the vendors and the pet journal in both what pets were available as well as their pet charm price.
In the Horde city of Dazar'Alor, you can find
Holaua die Heitere
located at 57,32 in the the
temple on a fairly low level. The areas of the capital city vendors are pretty cute with pet bowls, toys and the raptor plushie from the Blizzard Gear stuff. In addition to toys and pets, the vendor offers the
Pocket Pet Portal
for 1000 Polished Pet Charms, allowing you to permanently expand your account's collection slots to 1500.
Next door, there's a Pet Supplies NPC that is also faction neutral. You can buy basic upgrade stones,
s or pet bandages here. The
s go for 60 charms a piece, up from the 45 charms we paid in Legion.
In Boralus there's
, at 51,46 in the
area. He offers supplies, pug costumes, the
for 75 and 50 Pet Charms respectively. The shop also features a variety of dogs you can pet, mirroring the crazy cat lady house also in Boralus.
Alliance players will find
at 32,67. She offers toys, the
along with a selection of pets. The
pet is exclusive to this vendor.
Horde can talk to
at 30,59. He sells a
rep toy for gold, and four pets for charms.
can be found at 51,24. He's listed as a vendor selling several exclusive Drustvar-themed pets.
Horde players can shop from the
vendor- but they'll have to rescue him first. Find
first at 55, 37 and complete his quest to rescue
from the nearby Blood Troll camp. After turning it in, you can find
safe at camp over at 67,42.
The BfA rep vendors have battle pets to purchase at Revered reputation with the relevant faction. The
Champions von Azeroth
are available to both sides, but for the rest you'll need either an opposite faction alt or to keep an eye on the Auction House for caged rep pets.
Purchasing all of the pets for Pet Charms will currently run you approximately 5000 pet charms, give or take a hundred or two. Add in the pocket portal and the toys and you're looking at 6,750ish charms to get all of the launch BfA pet collectibles. Pet Charm income can be multiplied by doing Pet Battle world quests with alts, letting you complete your collection faster or farm up extra pets to sell for profit.
Other Pet Sources
Outside of Pet Charms, there's several other key ways to collect pets.
For 100,000 gold, stop by your faction's gold sink vendor and pick up a
. Alliance will want to see
Der ausgefuchste Nick
located at 57,47 in Boralus and be careful- he's in hostile territory. Horde will go to
at 48,87 in the Bazaar of Atal'dazor.
Another pet collecting hotspot will be the updated
. Nine different pets will drop from specific rares in the new Arathi Highlands of BfA. Warfronts will cause possession of the zone to flip between Alliance and Horde- but anybody can enter and farm. If your faction has it you'll have a quick access portal to get out there. If your faction does not have it, you'll be automatically flagged for PVP regardless of Warmode while in the zone.
Island Expeditions will be high on your list of activities, with 28 different cageable pets coming from there. (You can see the Wowhead guide for Island Expeditions
There are seven pets to be had from professions- four from Alchemy, the
from enchanting and another two from
. All are cageable so no sweat if you're not into those professions.
At least four pets will come directly from quests-
is from a Drustvar Quests while
's quest is in
. Now the Dart quest is Horde only and he is the only one of these flagged as NOT cageable, (update- Dart is cageable on live Bfa!) so you may actually need a Horde character to get him.
Several pets are available from the new meta achievements added in the 8.0 prepatch- collect
800 unique pets
and if you collect
you'll be the proud owner of your very own
If you'd like to own your own
, stop by his NPC located at 53,31 in
. He'll only talk to you if you have a million gold in your pockets, at which point he gives you an egg which teaches the pet to you. Note that he won't TAKE your gold- you don't need to spend it, he just needs to see you holding it to offer a dialogue option and give you the pet.
Our last pet source is a fun secret pet you can piece together in
. Find and loot three witchly chests in order, then combine the items with the incantation looted in a final chest to create the
pet. The following map contains the order and locations!
The only new pet achievement with a reward in the BfA launch is the
Kampf in Zandalar und Kul Tiras
, for the
toy. Complete 20 pet battle world quests using teams of fully level 25 pets to finish off that one. Keep in mind that leveling a pet will mean you're not using all 25s, so two-petting won't count for this achievement.
It's worth noting that there are no new pet dungeons, and so far no new family familiar style achievement. They could add something later down the road but unless they make changes to the availability of the world quest tamers, we probably won't see an achievement like that apply to the launch pet battles.
