Fury Warriors still attack fast, they just do it with 2 handers instead on 1 handers. My point is that regardless of how the weapons are labeled, the result is no meaningful difference. Transmog is the only consequence. And don't forget that Warriors at times used a single 2 hander instead of dual wielding 1 handers. I used to play Fury with an Untamed Blade back during BWL and AQ40, and it was very much viable because you didn't suffer from the massive hit chance penalty that came with dual wielding. Dual wielding as Fury back then only made sense if you had a crap load of hit gear. I also dual wielded Fury, and played Arms as well, as all three options had strong DPS potential depending on your gear and which weapons you managed to obtain.
The article titles about classes are grammatically bad, they should read, "The state of Warriors" not "The state of the warriors" unless its "State of the warrior class" or "state of the druid class" etc, ya had to be the grammar nazi, sorry, but I think bad grammar and spelling contributes to humanity becoming dumber, and it also makes you look bad and not professional. The article itself,, entirely pointless, this is extremely early alpha, what ever changes will be final, right now they are all in a fetal state. You don't look at a fetus and say, awe its cute, it's gonna have brown hair, you look at a fetus and say, yep, its a human. You look at these classes and say, yep, its the given class. You have no idea what the final iteration will be, Blizz could completely scrap an idea at any time until they are at the point of no return, or, when its too late to make any more major changes before release.Aside from that, I've been playing some Fury through Legion, and they just feel slow, squishy, cumbersome and unsatisfying and the dps feels low.
@ Protection: Personaly I think we are seeing only half of the picture at the moment. The new neck piece will change our abilities just like the old artifact weapons, so probably will be geting something like +15% or +1-2 second on Ignore Pain and 1-2 seconds on Shield Block, for the least.
Protection: Personally i don't like the Devastator talent. I liked the warriors in the beginning of the Legion (game-wise). I like the returning of BS and RC (imagine bosses like Shade of Xavius or Melandrus, RC will be great utility ) and i hope there are more changes coming soon. I want to see Ravager in uses for Mythic+, because if not, better change this talent for something else, no one uses this anyway. I like DS change. I don't like the nerf of thunder clap movement speed debuff (20%) compare to DK's DnD with TG talent they still got 50%. Overall I hope there are a bright days coming for protection warriors in BfA ! - Walking tall - stay strong brothers !
I think arms warrior should have Stormbolt as a baseline, soo we could get Double Time + Stun again. And the double time definelly would help on that rage generation issue. And whitout Death Sentence, dont really know if this will continue or not, arms will be a wheel chair mobility if we have to chose between mobility or stun. Execute phase where we need to execute multiple times were by far the worst thing at Legion. And it seems to continues at alpha, and worst than now. Personally I like how fury warriors are working right now, no big deal for the spec. I like the idea of Gladiator Stance comming back, and we got a block protection warrior back. They just made protection warrior easier to play for new players with Ignore Pain.
I am extremely interested in reading this type of article again once we have a clearer position from Blizzard regarding all specs. It was a bit frustrating reading when only Arms had some work done. This comes from a main Warrior that plays Prot / Fury, so take it with a grain of salt.
Yes to gladiator stance/spec (preferably with a shield and a polearm) and YES to one handed fury warriors. Please make it happen.
battlecry or now recklessness needs to be adressed to only give crit to your abilitys so that abuse of trinkets stops
New Prot War is kinda like a watered down Prot Pally now?
Agreed. It's not PROTECTION Warrior anymore. Now, it's just MASOCHIST Warrior - Ignore Pain reduces rage and give ya pleasure.
I think everything I wanted to say has already been said- I really don't like where Prot is going.1: Prot Warriors need to USE their shields and not rely on all this non-shield damage mitigation. Warriors should not be acting like Prot Pally's or Death Knights! Its what USED to make Warriors so unique!2: Maybe I'm just bad at rage management, but I already feel Rage starved a lot on live servers. The thought of having less rage and more expensive abilities (particularly for Arms and Fury) makes me worried.3: A LOT of people loved Gladiator stance (including myself!) Please bring it back! One of the reasons I love Warriors is because of their "sword and board" gameplay- the fact that I could do decent damage made me love the ability more than the "pure" DPS specs!
I've got to admit that, even though Fury seems to be in a good place numerically, I really just don't like it right now so I'm hoping for an more substantial overhaul in BFA. I'd mained a warrior all the way from Vanilla up until Legion and I can't see myself going back to my warrior for BFA if there aren't major changes. My biggest gripe right now is the forced game-play and being overly reliant on Battle Cry to do our damage. With Artifacts being removed in BFA, and losing the Warswords Fury is going to need some big help in the way of talents. I'd like to see them bring Flurry back as a baseline ability and allow us to pick between Titan's Grip and SMF again. I frankly wouldn't be sad to see Bladestorm go Arms exclusive either, it's not something Fury has really used much in high end raiding so why keep forcing it to be there? Make something more interesting with the game-play. Bring back something like a Berserk Rage into a talent that makes us go full glass cannon maybe? Frenzy/Furious Slash are really just fillers and I don't see their point in the greater world. You feel bad as a Warrior when you're having to push Furious Slash, an ability shouldn't ever feel bad to press. If you added something like Frenzy into the ability itself and gave it a stack cap as high as Juggernaut, I can say that I'd want to press that button. In my mind, I'd like to see an option for a higher skill cap on a Fury build. Similar to what Momentum Build was to to Demon Hunters at the start of Legion. Give a more simplified build for some people that want to walk in and smash things with their swords, but also allow for something with a little more finesse and skill cap with a bit more reward.
Thanks for the reviews, they don't cast a positive light on prot warrior so far in Alpha and I am undecided if I will main my warrior going in BFA. Also love the comments about gladiator stance, I completely enjoyed it and found it provided a balance between me tanking and doing dps.
I agree woth Archimtiros about the fury article. I was surprised there wasn’t even a change for fury talents when alpha came out. I played fury since day 1 in legion and still do. I can’t imagine going back to emerald nightmare days of slow fury with no bis legendaries... it felt dead. Now that they are nerfing enrage from 100% to 50% it’s a huge deal. I hope blizzard really pays attention to this article because fury rotation right now is good, just too slow. I would like to see inner rage baseline , having effect of the legion fury legendary helmet also baseline , i think this would be a fair change , without the legs legendary. While aswell changing alot of talents cause most of them are dead in legion.
