Since i met the hunter survival was one of the classes that i liked, and always felt something is needed, in my opinion that something is in the name "survival", i understand that this class is characterized by being a bet of all for the whole, but i also know that a sensible hunter would not risk it without having an ace up his sleeve.
Agreed change the visual of kill command to the one of flanking strike (it was really nice on Legion). Other than that i feel this is an improvement, on Legion I started as survival but had a very big problem surviving stuff and I would lose much DPS trying to kite mechanics, now we get to shoot something or at least build some focus while running, the passive heal from mastery should help alot in pvp as well. For me less buttons = good changes, but ye make some iconic abilities for this spec and not borrow from BM. Also minimum range on harpoon is plain wrong, just remove the minimum range altogether, it is just awkward.
Oh man, thanks for reminding me of Exotic Munitions. I loved that talent even if no one else used it.
Personally, I really liked the Legion version of the Survival Hunter. The melee animations were cool and I liked fighting literally beside my pet. Once I got the spec/rotation down, it was pretty smooth (at least for me). I get that hunters scream ranged attacks but now the BFA Survival feels like it's in limbo. Maybe that's a good thing because Blizz intends Survival to be a of mix ranged and melee. What I really want to say is that: BFA Survival feels lackluster and dinky, imo. Harpoon feels odd when I can use my tiny crossbow or instantly throw a bomb from a distance. I don't feel very melee anymore. And my ranged options are just, what? Also, Kill Command. The Legion spec felt so different and unique to me compared to the others, therefore, I just...you know what, nevermind. I miss Lacerate, and all those attacks (we got without talenting into) that felt very interactive. Perhaps I haven't given BFA Survival enough of a chance, but I loved Legion Survival and it really sucks to see it reworked like this, imo.
Not as good? Legion was very clunky and you were limited mobility in pvp we were getting ccd all day by casters. Now with the range abilities its hard for most to get away from sv hunters.
The legion spec felt simple and easy to play. Its was a slow clunkly spec and wasnt viable im all situations. Only down fall i see with this spec is that we just use raptor strike for melee. I wish they would allow us to just go back to vanilla survival in a way and allow us to duel wield some one handed weapons and i get my bow back. Got side tracked but i feel this spec gives hunter waaaaay more mobility especially in pvp vs casters. No more cc and running. Got my ranged raptor and bombs and kill comman with a bleed. But ince certain things hopefully get tweaked of course.
As a LONG time Hunter, I have to disagree. In my opinion, Legion Survival Hunter was pretty much as perfect as the spec can get as melee. The focus was melee with traps, which is what a Survival Hunter should be about. (If the spec must be melee). The newer hybrid version just doesn't feel as clean or as smooth to me.BUT, I'll continue giving the new Survival a try. The good part is that if I don't like it, marksman is always a good choice.I do however love the hand crossbow animation. IF Blizzard ever delivers on the cosmetic items they promised, a holster and quiver would be great.
