Sylvanas and Anduin both die in a battle against each other, By then Jaina has redeemed herself she becomes alliance leader, and Saurfang aka the new good baddie becomes warchief. I probably should've posted this on my real wowhead accounta aka christiegolden
Is it Activision or Blizzard calling this shots? The lore is a mess!
I'm betting Vol'jin will be back, Sylvanas will be gone, Jaina will be gone, and Anduin will still be getting manipulated by Genn and Shaw.
Sylvanas is so dumb. She thought that the burning of Teldrassil will crush the spirits of Night Elves? How naive! She underestimates Night Elves, seeing them as wimps rather than fighters who can be ferocious, fearless and thirsty for blood of their enemies. The Alliance is uniting while the Horde is falling apart thanks to Sylvanas and her stupid actions. I got a feeling her allies will turn into her enemies since she doesn't give a flying f**k about the Horde, she cares only about her own interests. Sylvanas is Garrosh 2.0, but not because of her actions - she's gonna be hated by her people.
It does seem that most of this should’ve been included in-game. It helps, somewhat. Yet another failure on Ion’s part. All he cares about is increasing time-played and counting his stock options. The buck stops with him. The sooner he goes, the better.
As others have said, I too believe whoever decided to keep all these details out of the game has done a terribly poor job. Granted, I still feel this is all a way to keep justifying a PvP aspect lorewise while it should be left to the competitive side of the game (with cross faction grouping, at that), but if the entirety of this story was portraied in game it would have been a lot better from a presentation point. As it is now, what we see in game is utterly "meh" story-wise, and most of the playerbase will only have that to go by, while the full story is actually a more interesting and nuanced one than what we have been shown. And it's not the first time they do this. But for a game that has over 12 years of storytelling, this approach of showing only a basic and badly written story ingame while having a better written version of the same story in another format is really, really, really a bad way to keep going forward imho.At this point, I very much hope this is a setting up point to shake up the factions system in the future.
This isn't better. It's even worse, really.I'm just so, so tired. I've been a Night Elf fan since Warcraft III. A Night Elf player since Open Beta, save for a brief stint on my Worgen in Legion. But always a Night Elf at heart. But now I'm just so, so tired. Mad not at the Horde, but at Blizzard for their treatment of the Night Elves in both the game and the novels for so long now. Maybe it's different now, but people who were at least fans of Warcraft III-era Night Elves were waiting with baited breath to play them BECAUSE THEY WERE STRONG. Because they were their own thing. They had a faction all their own, they had a unique culture, religion, aesthetic. No one rolled Night Elves just waiting for the day when they could experience some horrifically tragic storyline of their entire civilization's downfall after crushing, humiliating defeat at the hands of their enemies. That is not Lord of the Rings and no one wants the "twilight of the elven race" trope. We don't want to sail into the west, and we don't want to be the "dutiful ally of the powerful Human kingdom". Is that so hard to understand? But now it's too late. How much of the Night Elven race even remains after Teldrassil? Half? A third? Less? How can they continue to be a going concern? They've been routed, slaughtered and finished. It's been a long time coming but the strong, semi-independent Night Elves are finally and completely buried. No one wants a "Darnassian Quarter" in Stormwind. No one wants the Night Elves, ever-grateful for their High King Anduin for giving them a new place to live, to be wearing the blue and gold lion and wearing silver footman's armor in service of their saviors the Humans. No one wants greater homogenization among the Alliance. Ever since things started really going downhill in Cata in terms of the Night Elves characterization I've been desperately hoping for, if not something the Night Elves do that my character can feel strong, something they do that could make my character feel proud to be who they are... at least to ignore us and not make things worse. But no. Now we've reached the apex of the arc of humiliating defeat the Night Elves have suffered for too long now. I'm just so tired of hoping. I'm just so tired of wishing Blizzard cared about what Night Elf fans wanted for their favorite race. This is not it. This is not it by a longshot.
There were no more defense from the tree, because they all died defending at Darkshore perhaps?
Still find funny that someone try to explain something that have level of fanfiction writing and cover it with "we not like 50th shades of gray".
I mean the -least- they could have done is have Delaryn live. That might have given Night Elf fans SOMETHING to feel pride in. A character who fought to the last to protect their home, was horrifically wounded but rises to fight again - hopefully to some satisfying moment of revenge at the end of BfA. But no. The only Sentinel they've bothered to develop in who knows how long has to die for the villain's characterization. Which is all this whole thing is, really. The Night Elves are made to have suffered terribly all just to develop Sylvanas's characterization. If there's any greater indignity I don't know what it is.Sure, we get to pal around with Shandris in BfA… but where was she during War of the Thorns anyway? And for that matter, shouldn't the General of the Sentinel Army be in Kalimdor fighting to reclaim their homeland?I'm just so tired.
Can I please see the actual novellas and not this Nobbel crap?
Prepare for lots of atmospheric ion storms and eventually a crashed spaceship once Blizz realizes the Draenei having a working ship is a massive plothole for literally everything.
I really hope Blizzard cleans up Gilneas at some point in BfA so the displaced Worgen and Night Elves have a place to live that isn't the Cathedral.
Thank you so much for this analysis. It made a lot more sense than the empty bs we are fed in-game.
