Amazing guide! Go go Quissy!
So useful! Thanks!
It all sounds right to me. I have heard a lot of people claiming that bags (through tailoring) will be the way to make the most money early on, and that may be true, but I think alchemy will be the best long term profession for gold into the later tier releases. Yes, bigger bags are always sought after, but once you have them you have them (until you roll and alt, I guess) but consumables get consumed on use, meaning people will always need more. Raiders & PvPers both will want potions by the stack. A bag is a one-time sale, but Alchemy customers will be repeat customers!
If you're a rogue or druid strongly consider mining as you'll be able to do stealth solo black iron mining runs in BRD. Rogues in particular can very safely (thanks to vanish) collect quite a bit of this very valuable ore.
Great tip regarding having both herbalism and mining but being able to only track one on the map. I will definitely reconsider what I pair with mining after reading this.
Just do what i did in vanilla.....change professions every few weeks....far out i failed what i started this game hahahaha
.....seriosuly?you missed Engineerings most valuable thing...Ammo.Hunters = need ammo = profit.
Imo, third pick for best raiding profession would be Enchanting, in vanilla gloves, boots, bracers, cloaks and weapons were able to receive enchants (head, shoulders and legs were able too, but those came from a different source) and if memory serves if you had either Enchant Weapon: Crusader or one of the “stat sticks” enchants (+spell/healing power, agility, intellect, etc) you would always have someone need them, in worst case a Fiery weapon enchant also sold well. Not to mention that enchanting was hard as heck to level up (and the master enchanter found inside Uldaman!) so not many people bothered leveling enchanting, plus some of the best enchants were locked behind either rare drops or reputation rewards (Timbermaw!)
I'd definitely recommend Skinning + Mining / Herb as you level up. Skinning is so great as you basically make money while you stand there a few seconds after a fight and regenerate.Look at the crafting professions once you hit 40+ or even 50+. By then you'll enough gold from selling skins and ore on the AH to pay for mounts and whatever comes next. And most of all - have an AH alt to send things to and let them do all the gold making.

Luckily there's that "(World of Warcraft)" in the title, otherwise nobody would have any idea what WoW means
Thanks for the guide! Clear and concise!
Well, Engineering is #1 in PvE too. Engineering is important cause you NEED it in order to use sapper charges.Yes pots/elixirs are important ,but you don't need alchemy to use them. You can literally have 1 person in your guild do alchemy, and a few others (on alts) to farm herbs.I guess it depends if you're min/maxing or just looking to make gold.
If I had realized how to use the AH as a beginner, I would have definitely taken Mining with my Skinning for my first several levels, to pad my bank account for later. Even after BC, a stack of 20 Light Leather was selling for way more than it should have, and people paid more for a stack of 20 Copper Ore than they did for Mithril (I think they still do). All because at higher level, no one wants to "waste time" running around gathering leather and ore to skill up Production professions. And even Tailoring needs a bit of leather in some of the recipes.
