For all of you posting about "this is an RPG choice, it should be permanent", if you want a permanent choice for your gameplay, then make it a permanent choice. Why do you want to limit other people's choice because you want it to be permanent? Just pick one and play your game, don't try to force other people to be locked into a choice. I don't understand this point of view. You're claiming the "big bad mythic raiders" are trying to control this game, yet you're doing the same thing.
The idea that Preach speaks for the ''1%'' is so absurd it makes me laugh. Do people who say ''meh, I don't care as long as it's fun'' don't realize it's not fun to not being able to play with spells from your class? This is Azerite gear 2.0. It has the potential to be one of the best expansions ever, but due to Blizzard mentality of creating a problem ON PURPOSE just so they can make people sub for more months and not enjoy the game while the next patch has a solution already planned is the only reason this expansion won't be the good, and World of Warcraft is doomed to be mediocre at best if devs continue to follow this path.By the way, Preach should've known better that Ion would answer 99% of the questions with ''meaningful choice, rpg and balancing''.
It's so obvious they will open up all the covenants to everyone in a later patch. How else will they tempt back all those players who quit after 9.1?
The problem I don't get is, if there are people out there that don't care at all what happens with their character and that deceide purley for roleplay reasing, why don't they listen to the players that DO care about numbers? They wouldn't hurt either group by listening to the number crunchers?
TiL : People don't care about the game, they just want to consume whatever crap Blizzard throw at them. The one thing i am looking forward to shadowlands is people complaining that they realized they don't enjoy the Convenant they choose and had to re-do when they swap to another convenant, and then realized that convenant also bad.People that at the high end WILL play around this, and they do NOT care what blizzard threw at them because they will play around it, they have the time and dedications. The thing is, it is better if they don't have to do it (duh), but if blizzard don't care, then they don't care and deal with it.Regular people like me? i only do heroic raids, and maybe mythic few bosses. No way in hell i am the top end raider or mplus pushersBut despite that, i want to PUMPS. I want to PULL MY WEIGHT.I am not crazy min maxer, but if i choose a covenant. And found out that my covenant abilities is TRASH. Then what the hell am i supposed to do?There is no Options here. All the options are all illusions.I main druid, and different spec have different good covenant. I play all 4 spec, and that what I enjoy.Do i have to make 4 druid? Please, please please, tell me what am i supposed to do?AM I FORCED TO PLAY A SUB OPTIMAL COVENANTS?Please god. Tell me oh wise people. what am i supposed to do...ewewIt sucks enough in BFA knowing my class/spec are pretty much "this spec is basically this spec, but worse".people really underestimate the bad thing that covenants "Choices" bring. But you know what...I give up....People just can't see the problem until it's too late, and it'll be fixed in 9.2.happened to legiondary (they massively rebalance legiondarin in 7.2)happened to azerite gear (they added essences in 8.2)and now covenants system will be fixed in 9.2Here i go buying Early Access game again.
He's said things like this all along, about RNG and player choice, but somehow they don't make it into the actual game. I like Ion but it's getting hard to trust if he actually believes the things he says, or if he isn't actually in charge of the game to implement them.
Not sure how anyone can defend Ion in this situation. This DOESN’T just affect the high end; and will have a very large ripple effect that is going to hit everyone.Dungeon navigation strats, Raid Strats - even on a casual level are going to feel the impact of having abilities that are “better” than others - and to say that this is only going to affect the top 1% is bananas. As a Balance Druid main, i ALREADY know which covenant i have to go in to be in the realm of competitive ; and it is NOT the one i wanted to be in aesthetically.remember, this is an MMO, before it’s an RPG
booooo! Boring x1000! Stop asking about Covenants! we are getting the same answers! Not because they don't want to say anything else but there is nothing else to say after soooooooo many repeatable questions.
