Weird how he says the same things as Asmongold. I wonder if that's why he left?
well that's not a great start to my day. lol
Really awesome guy and a bummer to see him go :C

Glad he is leaving and finding something better for his Interests. Blizzard nothing like they use to the same tune is being song by everyone who leaves. It really shows the vision is gone and more and more will leave as time goes on at least those who are more passion about the project vs putting food on the table.
good luck to him and good luck to the dev staff who remains, so we have the best game they can do given their circumstances. lets all hope for the best for the future of the game we all hate i mean love. :)
Best of luck to him. I completely agree with what he says regarding Classic vs Retail and how retail has essentially stripped out the entire need for social interaction with its systems over the years. Even as I type this I am sitting in Stormwind on retail after logging in for the first time in a few months and its empty. Not a person speaking. Nothing going on. Oh well, back to classic...
Wasn’t the shadow priest rework universally praised? Blizzard should be trying to keep their good devs, not letting them go. I’m sure he will be missed.
Brave to come out and say this stuff before securing employment somewhere else.Glad he said it, though. I'm sure this isn't an isolated and minority opinion. He did great work on the spriest revamp, it's a shame the spec is getting nerfed to the dirt before we even made it to Shadowlands proper.
To be honest I'd like that. I can't stand Classic, the pacing is completely off and the class design is very archaic for a 2020 game. That said, some of the social features are really captivating, and while I know tons of people like Torghast, I really feel that:1) Better social tools. Guild tools and community tools really need to be updated.2) More emphasis on large scale events. 40+.Would make a product that is unique. Many features of WoW are done way better in other games. There are way better gear based PvPs. There are way better team games vs environment. Raiding is arguably what no one else does better than WoW. Better social networks as games out there too. Better questing experiences. The issue, especially with (2) is the lag. With the increasing complexity of classes, and all the bells and whistles, it is way harder to organize 100s of players in the game. Even the Classic event had to have specific infrastructure and allowances to handle the millions and even for a 16 year old game and class and code, it was far from silky smooth. Not to mention tons of players really WANT solo experiences. They WANT Torghast. They WANT more solo questing. They don't want to get tied to some randoms. So I expect Blizzard will probably inject more of what Chris said as a side project, rather than a priority, since many gamers are more willing to pay for Blizzard's current direction.
Seems from the tl;dr: that he was most dissatisfied with the social element of the game being gone, which I can sympathize with.I have now watched the video, nor do I think I will, but I feel his views, or specifically what the developers are split on is pretty much exactly the same thing the players are split on with things like the ripcord or flying. Whether WoW should focus more on being an RPG or ARPG. Should choices matter and the game be built with a more holistic approach, or should it emphasize the raids and generally make the game more convenient?Feel free to correct me if anyone watches the video.
True points there. I wish the best for him to succed wherever he goes!
So basically he just wants people to hate each other.
Welp he's right. Retail is a game full of contradictions and conflicting design philosophies. Almost as if they inserted many features into the game that are antithetical to the mmorpg genre.Blizzard tries to please everyone and the result is no clear vision for what the game really should be.
Blizzard was cut in half then cut in half again. It's like a pair of legs working on the games!
WoW lost another PvPer dev, that's not good.
